Cask @ Vintage. From very old notes. Pours dark orange with minimal head. Aroma of pine and banana. Very different, I’m not a huge fan. madvike (3264) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 23, 2011
On cask at the brewpub - Pours deep clear amber with no head at all. Aroma is nothing like I’ve ever smelled in a beer. Musky, like male cologne, light mint, cherries, and pine needles. Taste is sweet fruit--something tropical--pine needles, cherries, bready malt, and lots of yeast. Finishes with the same weird musky perfume taste. Watery and thin, with a little carbonation. A weird beer, but one that I’m glad I tried. cbfobes (2883) - Quad Cities, Illinois, USA - DEC 26, 2010
On cask at Vintage, pours a hazy orance with a nice head, aroma is of some banana and a hint of juniper, flavor is similar to aroma but has a nice fruit kick in the finish, interesting stuff. Skyview (6055) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - DEC 23, 2010
On cask at the Vintage brewpub in Madison, Wisconsin. Pours a hazy orange amber colored brew with a thick and creamy beige head that really sticks to the glass edge and great retention. Aroma of saison character with yeast, banana esters golden grain malt, orange zest and juniper (pine needles). Taste is medium bodied, smooth, creamy with flavors of yeast, golden grain malt, mild spices and cardamon. Finish is smoother than the regular Joulupukki with aftertastes of juniper, light spice, fruit and a hint of black licorice.
