Old review from a cask pour at the brewpub. No one knew much about this other than the Lavender aspect. Nothing was great about this one, but it was interesting to say the least. I got something a bit different every sip that I took. Ughsmash (7502) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 5, 2010
On cask at Vintage. The waitress didn’t know what the “official” name is, but mentioned lavender a few times.. none of the current RB descriptions are close. Poured near-clear brighter golden with a creamy white head.. nice lacing followed it down. The aroma picked up lots of sweet lavender and other floral notes (think wilted leaves) over pale maltage.. very interesting. The flavor was on the sweet side with pale and honeyed malts providing support.. lavender took over and dominated after that, providing some sweetness and some very distinct bitterness.. tacky finish with increasing floral bitters. Medium-bodied on the palate.. rolling carbonation was evident on the front, but seemed to fall off through the finish.. sharp at odd times.
