From the lighter ranks of Octoberfest beers in colors. A dark goldenrod pour, some light carbonation. Nose is malt and some breadiness. Taste is not overly sweet; it’s got a slightly sweet biscuity backbone, but this is definitely from the crisper, lighter, more refreshing side of the marzen spectrum. There’s a light bitterness and crispness from German hops on the finish. muzzlehatch (4969) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 26, 2016
Draught sample at the brewpub, September 23rd. Clear amber-gold with just a bit of lasting head...light smoky-toasty malt nose, hints of sweet caramel and also B.O. though the latter is weak and largely disappears in a few minutes...less sweet than many in the style though there is a decent malt underpinning here, lightly toasty throughout, some hints of sourness, somewhat flat and dull finish...low to moderate carbonation and a decent heft to the body. Why do I keep torturing myself ordering an Oktoberfest every time I see one? Jeez. Maybe after I hit a hundred in the style I’ll stop. demmbonz (732) - Erin, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 28, 2012
Tap at Sweet Mullets. Burnt copper. Very sweet and malty and delicious. Just a slight hop bitterness. esjaygee (3904) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 19, 2011
On tap at Erv’s Mug. Crystal clear amber with a medium tan head. Aroma of toffee, malt and mild noble hops. Taste of caramel, toffee, light fruit and faint noble hops. Among the better blandtoberfests I’ve had this season. crossovert (13457) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 17, 2011
Relatively mild. This oktoberfest brew just didn’t speak to me, it came across as tried and not true.

Thirsty Troll Brew Fest. Pour is amber with a khaki head. Aroma is bready with underlying notes of toffee and earthy/floral hops. Flavor shows pretty much the same. This was well made but probably the least impressive offering Vintage had for the day. Then again, i’ve never really been a fan of octoberfest beers. Tap at the brewpub. Clear amber pour with a small thin dense ring of a white head. Sweet malt aroma, not very big. Medium-light palate. Sweet caramel malt flavor, nice. nuplastikk (6373) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 31, 2011
Draft at Vintage. Filtered orange-brown. Doughy aroma, smooth malt backbone, but displays some off flavors. Sweet, with a sharp pepper flavor, sort of throws it off. Soapy. Some mellow fruity amber malt tones. Unimpressive. MrPickles (438) - Waunakee, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 22, 2010
On tap at the brewpub. This has been the year of good and bad Oktoberfest’s. I have had the worst I have ever had, and I have had a few of the best. This is one of the the ones on the top. Good mix of bread, caramel and malts. Good solid brew. triguy84 (235) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 13, 2010
Pours clear brown/copper with a thin head. Light malt aroma. Moderate malt flavors. Medium-light body with a light hop bitter finish. Not bad, I like a little more malt in an Oktoberfest, but this is nicely done.
