From the lighter ranks of Octoberfest beers in colors. A dark goldenrod pour, some light carbonation. Nose is malt and some breadiness. Taste is not overly sweet; it’s got a slightly sweet biscuity backbone, but this is definitely from the crisper, lighter, more refreshing side of the marzen spectrum. Draught sample at the brewpub, September 23rd. Clear amber-gold with just a bit of lasting head...light smoky-toasty malt nose, hints of sweet caramel and also B.O. though the latter is weak and largely disappears in a few minutes...less sweet than many in the style though there is a decent malt underpinning here, lightly toasty throughout, some hints of sourness, somewhat flat and dull finish...low to moderate carbonation and a decent heft to the body. Relatively mild. This oktoberfest brew just didn’t speak to me, it came across as tried and not true.

Thirsty Troll Brew Fest. Pour is amber with a khaki head. Aroma is bready with underlying notes of toffee and earthy/floral hops. Flavor shows pretty much the same. This was well made but probably the least impressive offering Vintage had for the day. Then again, i’ve never really been a fan of octoberfest beers. Pours clear brown/copper with a thin head. Light malt aroma. Moderate malt flavors. Medium-light body with a light hop bitter finish. Not bad, I like a little more malt in an Oktoberfest, but this is nicely done.
