Sidra de Nava is a tart, lemony summer Spanish-style sidra. The Asturias region produces 80% of the Sidra in Spain, and the Asturian summer is something to behold. The skies are clear and blue, the cafs full, and Sidra reigns supreme. Every caf and Sidrera pours it either thrown from a bottle or pipa (pitcher) held high overhead or straight from the kupela (barrel). Afternoon drinking under those blue skies leads to long nights of music, dancing and of course, more Sidra. The climax of the summer is the Festival de la Sidra in the village of Nava, held each July.

Virtues Sidra de Nava is more tart than the dry ciders of England or funky cidre from France. Its lemony nose and bracingly tart dry finish are a happy intersection of cider, dry white wine and fresh squeezed lemonade. Its the most refreshing of drinks, pure sunshine in a glass.

On tap @ Proletariat. A blurry paleish looking one with a quickly sidesticking bright white head. Smells really good. Lots of dryness in the nose. Wood, dust, small yellow sourish apples. Like it. Yeah, tastes lovely. It has a really tasty acidity this! Also some sweetness for balance, but its definitely on the acidic sour path this cider. Good small prickling bubbles in a near oily texture. Lots of nice apply acidic flavors in this. Cork and musk. Super dry finish. Nice and really refreshing. 19.06.2015

From notes. Finally getting around to adding beers from the Detroit Zoo Brew! Enjoyed on September 26. I think this was the least favorite of the entire trip. The pour is a light gold with a thin white head and no lace. The aroma is apple vinegar. There is a lot of acidity. Then a strange alcohol that reminds me of nail polish remover. The flavor is much of the same. Its really sour, with a strong alcohol presence and a good amount of funk. This is not at all what I was expecting for a cider. The mouth feel is thin and light like a juice, and the aftertaste is lingeringly sour with an alcohol burn

From bottle at What the Funk?!? - GABF 2014. Pour is very clear, with a light golden tint and small head that quickly dissipated. Super funky, band-aid - almost medicinal - grassy, biscuity, and green pears in the aroma. Taste is acetic - some lemon and biscuit notes - but really just a heavy acetic and vinegary taste. Light body with high carbonation. Not very good.

Draft @ Cambridge, PJ and Jay, 9/27/14. White-yellow, hazy, mostly opaque. Nice mildly tart and peppery aroma. Taste is similar, crisp and tart, some herbal/pepper notes, very nice.
