33 cl bottle at home. Looks like a typical tripel, golden in colour with a small white head. Aroma is sugary sweetness with the vegetable aroma one associates with Saaz hops. Taste is sweet with a low bitterness. Sweet palate with some dryness, there is also some acidity and musky sourness. I would like to have seen these tastes and aromas enhanced with more hopping, as it is this is just another sweet tripel - meh. Alengrin (5727) - BELGIUM - OCT 31, 2014
Tripel in this politically compromizing series - but I guess you’d have to be Belgian to grasp that political meaning. Anyway: a stereotypical tripel with a thick, off-white head and pale golden blonde colour; malt sweetness and apply estery fruitiness prevail, some coriander, phenolic too; straightforward taste, malt sweet, subdued fruity onset, spicy ’Van Steenberge yeastiness’, mild hop bitter finish. Totally redundant - it tastes as if Van Steenberge made a cheaper version of their own Augustijn. Not to mention the metallic undertone. This beer company is quality-wise not an addition to Belgian beer culture (carefully put) and is primarily motivated by politics, that much is certain. No more Flemish lions for me. Bottle from De Zytholoog. Golden colour, white foam. Lively carbonation. Sweet aroma with metallic notes and bitter aftertaste. Unbalanced, typical Van Steenberge flavour, a flavour I don’t like. mjik83 (1650) - Maastricht, NETHERLANDS - AUG 5, 2014

Uitgeschonken in het originele glas
Uiterlijk: goudkleurig met redelijke witte schuimkraag
Aroma en smaak: ijzer, zuur, grassig
Conclusie: niet slecht, maar zeker geen topper

Ordinary Belgian tripel. Has the usual traits, but remains a bit flat. Strange that they labeled a beer after such a nationalistic and violent event.

Bottle 33cl. Hazy pale amber color, one finger frothy white head, recedes slowly, thin layer remains, good lacing; aroma malty, banana, yeast, dough, bit toffee, coriander; taste light sweet, slightly bitter, alcoholic and spicy notes; full body, oily to creamy texture; all taste elements including some acidity present in finish. 77ships (11056) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - DEC 7, 2013
33 cl. bottle @ De Stroopop in Zoersel. BBF 17/04/2015. Almost clear bright golden with an off-white head. Nose is iron, candy, orange & pretty heavy on esters. Taste is pretty basic, plenty of esters, slightly boozy, orange peel, apples, candy sugar, touch iron,… Light, touch higher carb. Pretty dull & basic brew. Nothing objectionable here. 33cl bottle @ The Capital, Leuven.
Aroma is hoppy, grass, apples.
Clear yellow, huge white foamy head, lasting rather long.
Taste has grains, malts, apples.
Dry finish. mutz (1113) - NETHERLANDS - JUN 6, 2013
Gouden kleur, veel kraag die langzaam inzakt tot een laagje op het bier.
Niet heel veel aroma, wat zoetfruitigs. Smaak idem, wat vlak. Droge afdronk. Countbeer (6599) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - APR 30, 2013
Medium sized, slow disappearing white foamy head on top of a clear yellow colored beer.
Aromas of fruits, grains, corn, cream, sweat, light glue. Quite normal.
flavours of spices, grains, malts, bitters, light sharp, some light fruit tones and a hint of yeast.
Aftertaste is light sharp, light picy, light cream and some fruit.
Medium carbo, bit blown mouthfeel, medium body and a texture between creamy ad watery.
Bit Duvel a like but less balanced..
