BlackHaddock (7583) - Shropshire, - MAY 10, 2012
December 2007, from BA: Brown 33cl bottle, best before? Not sure, so drank both the bottles I had, this review is a combination of those beers. Poured into a Corsendonk tulip glass it has a small white head that soon sinks down into a scummy looking wisp. The body of the beer is an orange cloudy, light amber colour, not very appetizing really. The aroma was of sweet and sour fruits, pineapple and citrus together, with the sweeter smells winning the battle. Fruit juice with a kick, strange mix of flavours, couldn’t pick a true taste comparison, not unpleasant though. Fairly thin in the mouth, plenty of life but something missing in action. Didn’t really know what to make of this beer, I enjoyed the first one more than the second, which is unusual for me, as i said earlier, something missing for me.

Bottle from Carrefour City Supermarket, Brussels, Belgium. Hazy golden coloured with a thick white head of foam. It has a lemon, vanilla and yeast flavour followed by grassy, biscuit and slight plastic notes on the finish. Just ok.

Bottle at home. Blond, clear with a white head. Aroma is a cut above the usual blond: yeasty and spicy with floral hop characteristics. Sweetish start with bitterness to follow. Grainy with flavours of citrus fruit. Well carbonated, lively, almost sherbet-like on the palate and finishing dry and bitter with more floral notes. Pretty good.

Oklar orangefrgad med tjockt vitt skum. Doftar kryddigt, lite stt. Smaken fyllig, ganska, kryddig, besk och humlig, lite st och med svag jstsmak. Eftersmaken lng, torr och bitter samt lite st p slutet.

75cl bottle @ the in-laws, Eecke. Catch-up rating from last year. Pours hazy deep gold, white head. Aroma is malty, yeasty, caramel. Taste presents floral hops, lightly sweet.. kind of like a weak hommelbier. Drinkable table blonde, but nothing spectacular.

Bottle from Kisjes Slijterijen, Meppel. Aroma is yeast, pale malt, grain, bit spicy, mild grassy hops. Flavour is moderate sweet and light bitter. Body is medium. Nothing special but drinkable Belgian ale.

330ml bottle (One Pint Pub, Tallinn)
Very rich malty light grain aroma, is this emmer or something?, a bit nutty and pulsey, some floral aspects. Misty light orange, small somewhat persistent white head. Light malty taste, a bit nutty and grainy. Bird seed is an idea that passes through my mind as I sip. Light palate, drinkability quite refreshing. Finish does show some delicate floral hops. Right now, I find this very uninspiring, perhaps a bit too raw with the pulsey graininess?

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Mitra Gorinchem Golden with a white head. Fruity yeasty very Belgian aroma. Taste is medium sweet. Middle of the road beer but not badly brewed, just your average standard Belgian blonde.

Tsja, saai blond bier, wat bitterzoet, aroma en smaak. Had ook wat kaas op wat de smaak niet ten goede komt. Weinig kraag. Smaak is wat alcohol achtig, meer dan een zweem van dat dikke weeïge.
