Panzerfaust (848) - Hanga Roa, Easter Island, CHILE - OCT 31, 2015
330 ml bottle from Easter Island supermarket. Pours a clear orange color with tiny mustard-seed sized black particles floating. Medium white head that diminishes quickly but retains a thin cap and wonderful lacing. Aroma is purely fruity, like Lucuma-nectar, a little bit artificial with traces of nuts, lactose, milk, Dulce de Leche. Zero hop and almost zero malt smell. Taste is sweet, maybe overly so with a bit of fruit tartness on the back. Not really enjoyable as a beer. Reminds me a bit of these cheap fruit-lambic imitations a-la Chapeau or Mongozo. Summer Beer? It’s not refreshing with so much sweetness. It says "Lucuma flavor" as an ingredient, so they didn’t use real fruit apparently. Light bodied, medium-high carbonation. A soft-drink. It will get a lot of customers among the masses and due to its novelty value, but as a beer, it’s almost worthless. MohaBeer (280) - Lima, PERU - SEP 12, 2015
Mala cerveza. AlfredoGarcia (287) - Santiago, CHILE - APR 22, 2015
350 ml bottle. I’m gonna agree with the other comment: when I heard about the Lucuma beer i thought it would be such a great thing for the lack of chilean beer identity (even if it’s not from the natives from the south, that’s marketing), but the quality of the product don’t really help, it’s not terrible, but could have beer better. It smells a little bit like lucuma, yes, but could be better. Amber color with little white head. Taste a lot like lucuma, but it’s waaaaaay too strongly tasted, and not at all a summer beer. Don’t you know what elegance is, Volcanes friends? The effort is nice though... Arve_Christian (5114) - Oslo, NORWAY - JAN 18, 2013
On bottle from Bierfest Santiago.
Bottle stated Premium Lager, but I was in for a surprise on this on. Obviously Lúcuma is a fruit eaten by the indigenous people far south in Chile- so a very different beer then expected.
Dark golden color, ok foam and lively carbonation. Intense fruity aromas , somewhat artificial , malt, raisins- light milk chocolate .
Light/ medium body and complexity.
Very sweet beer, could improve by more punch.
Very special beer...
