UPDATED: MAR 1, 2004 re-rate 29-02-2004: How is it possible I gave this beer such a low rating before? I love it now! Did the brewer change recipe or was it a bad bottle? Strong spices in the aroma. Some debris floating around, ruby color, off-white head, good lace. Sweet, spicy, alcohol well present, very fruity, full, soft. 14-01-2001, 2.3: Too spicy. Bit sweet. caesar (7286) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - MAY 30, 2004
Upon opening the 75 cl bottle, the beer gushes out and won’t stop. So beware and be quick with the pouring! Very cloudy brown color, huge off-white head. Aroma is roasted and chocolat malts, dried fruit such as prune and walnut, spices like nutmeg. Taste is very malty (they used 7 different malt ingredients), soft but alcoholic, quite complex. Full palate, slightly alcoholic. Very nice beer by a very nice brewery. Ungstrup (38415) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - DEC 23, 2005
[I bought my bottle in 2003 and am drinking it the month it expires December 2005] It was very lively when opened. A deep red beer with a slight sediment hanging in the beer and with a thick long lasting brown head. The aroma is powerful with notes of wood, over ripe fruits, prunes, and raisins. The flavor is sweet and very nice with strong notes of over ripe fruit - especially peaches, but also prunes and raisins - almost like a Madeira, with the alcohol lying in the background. The end is very complex with notes of cloves, oranges, and nuts on a woody background. This goes right up there among my favorite Dutch beers. Borresteijn (7491) - Zaandam, NETHERLANDS - APR 2, 2009
50cl Bottle from Cracked Kettle. Murky brown colour with lots and lots of yeast, huge lasting fluffy and creamy head. The head kept growing and growing, also out of the bottle. Hmm...Very fruity and yeasty aroma, lots of ripe stonefruits, brown sugar and yeast, spicy, very Belgian. Flavour is sweet, stonefruits, peppery spices, a lot of sugar, but nicely balanced by a good hoppy bitter finish, along with some alcohol. Soft and creamy mouthfeel, medium to fullbodied. Higly enjoyable, very good beer! BeerBiker (1414) - Odense, DENMARK - SEP 18, 2007
[Sampled in 2005, present from Den Blå Øl.] Bombing head and sediments like never before ...or after. Heavy notes of dried fruits, wood, raisins, sweet nuts, some chocolate, weak alcohol, very complex, 7 diff. malts, spices. Great. Must try more brew from this brewery.

Bottled (from Cracked Kettle). Amber colour, mediumsized fluffy beige head that leaves nice lace. Aroma is fruity and flowery hops along with some hints of spices and yeast. Flavour is toffee, some spices along with fruity and flowery hops. Alcohol gives a nice warming touch in the throat on it’s way down. Fruity hoppy finish and aftertaste. Comes quite close to some IPA:s with it’s strong fruity hoppyness. Hunsell (403) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - APR 22, 2008
Very muddy brown beer with huge head. Sweet aroma of dried fruit, nuts, caramel and malts. Very malty taste, sweet caramel, chestnut and some dark fruits. Alcoholic. Big beer, a bit rough but quite nice. TrefwoordPunk (1302) - Leiden, NETHERLANDS - DEC 9, 2008
cloudy orange, with a big white head and a sweet liquorice sell. Taste is sweet too, mostly ortange, but also syruppy and alcoholic. finish is spicey, very nice Ober (2811) - Bommelerwaard, NETHERLANDS - JAN 1, 2009
A hazy dark red/brown colored beer, with a huge, thick foamy beige head. The aroma is spicey, some pepper, dark fruits and hops. The taste is very spicey, several dark fruits, like prunes and raisins. Some nuts and wood. The aftertaste is long bitter and warm. altonbrownd (5897) - Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA - APR 26, 2009
Bottle from Bierkoning. Exploding head, probably lost 50% of contents to the tablecloth. Murky brown body with serious head. Nose of malts. Taste of caramel, malts, sweet fruits. Very yeasty but also very nice. LIked it quite a bit, considering.
