Bottle, 2012. Pours inky black, small dark brown head, some lacing. Aroma is bourbon, boozy, chocolate, barrels, booze. Flavor is fully sweet, light plus bitter, cocoa and bourbon, heavy bourbon. Some vanilla and molasses. Medium plus body, creamy mouthfeel. Light lingering heat. I think time has perhaps melted this a bit, but it’s still heavy handed.

Bottle shared thanks to JBPortland ! Pours a viscous burnt umber color with a finger of khaki foam. Lots of burnt brownie on the nose wit layers of charred wood, dark fruit and some sweet nutty bourbon. Palate follows with lots of dark fruit, hint of soy and tons of charred wood character that add depth and complexity to the chocolate brownie batter flavors. The dark fruit adds complexity but was a bit to heavy for my personal preference.

22oz bottle pours oily dark black with small dark tan head. Nose is rich bourbony raisin chocolate and tootsie roll with some vanilla oak and booze. Taste is creamy, good mouthfeel, more of the rich melted boozy chocolate raisin and dark fruit. Finish has some semi sweet dark fruit bourbon and chocolate cake, soft wood. Delicious!

Bottle sent out from a buddy. Split at a tasting. Thanks! A: Jet black with a thin mocha head. Legs. N: Olive, grass, hay, grist, cocoa, espresso, and molasses. Oak and bourbon - not sure that it’s adding anything delicious though. T: Bitter, then semi-sweet. M: Medium-heavy body, a touch of alcohol. O: Very bitter beer with a strange after-flavor. I like the base, so I was expecting a lot more out of this one.

650 thanks to Luke. Pours a dark brown color with a small beige head. A big boozy bourbon nose, some vanilla. Smooth hot vanilla, bourbon, dark roast. Char. Huge barrel. Bottle number #248.

Bottle... Pours murky and dark brown with a small, creamy, mushroom-colored head. The bouquet is sweet and fruity with a note of vanilla and a hint of scorched malt. Maybe some pouch tobacco in there as well. Not much of a chocolate component here. Full-bodied with a super velvety mouthfeel and kicked-back carbonation. Mainly, this tastes like charred malt, bourbon and moderately bitter hops. Some nice espresso at the tail end. Bottle generously supplied by landhoney!

Woodshed 3.0! Big thanks to dak for saving this whole series and sharing with us. Awesome!! Bottle #312 pours with a murky mahogany looking body that supports a minimal head. The aroma offers up loads of residual sugars, boozy whiskey, coconut and a slight oak note. I’m not sure I’m getting much in the way of the base beer but just the boozy barrel treatment. The taste delivers some beer notes in the form of dark roasted malts, chocolate and then big rough whiskey booze that slips you a bit of warming heat into the after taste.
