COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is our Imperial Stout that we age in conditioning tanks with oak staves. This adds a classic character of old world aging without the Bourbon tones. This black ale is about 12% ABV and very rich in roasted and chocolate malt tones. Velvety smooth and able to be aged for years. For now this will be a seasonal beer offering.

Bomber shared by durhambeer - thanks, Bob! Pretty good pour, heavy and oily with lots of sticky lacing. The nose is dominated by heavy roasts, which carries over into the intense flavor - they hit that note pretty hard, and it’s relatively one-dimensional (albeit a tasty dimension). Oddly vegetal quality creeps in towards the finish too. And I found the body to be a bit thin for such a big beer. Not bad.

Bottle from hopdog opened at PP bottle shop. Black. Small head. Aroma is malty. Taste is very dry and a little bit tart. Why does dry stout and tart seem to go together? Lots of hop bitterness. Alcohol well hidden. Very good, but I prefer it a little sweeter.

22oz bottle from MrChopin. Pours a very dark brown almost black with a creamy milk chocolate head. Nose is big on chocolate, toffee, with a touch of coffee. This brew pretty much tastes like i melted a Hershey bar into a glass of vodka.....haha. The booze is present to say the least.

Bomber at Zeno’s. Pours very black with thin tan head. The aroma of molasses and port hits my nose as I pour; with a closer sniff I get lots of coffee and chocolate and a lot of ambient fruitiness. The flavor is rich espresso, some dark chocolate, and a little bit of toasty oak. Some earthy and leafy hops are evident toward the finish. Bits of roasty and ashy sourness come through once in a while. The finish has a woody bitterness and a slight alcohol warmth. Chocolate and smoke sneak into the aftertaste. Pretty good.

Bottle from PUB’N. Pours onyx with 1-finger brown head and awesome lacing. Nose is molasses, figs, prunes, dark malt, cacao. Tastes rich, dark malty, with heavy cacao, coffee, and some finishing hoppy dryness. very rich and creamy, this one hides its power well, then whips it out and knocks you for a loop later. Very good, and thanks a ton to my anonymous benefactor for procuring this one for the Good Doctor of Beerdom.

on Tap at EBF 09. Pours an ok deep dark black with a diminishing head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted barley a bit of charred black malts, slight smoke and lots of DMS and vegetal character which was a real turnoff. More oak woodiness with vanilla, earth and tart- licorice and some anice seed more vegetal- and a bit thin in the end iwth more charred malts and a dry oakyness.
