COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is our Imperial Stout that we age in conditioning tanks with oak staves. This adds a classic character of old world aging without the Bourbon tones. This black ale is about 12% ABV and very rich in roasted and chocolate malt tones. Velvety smooth and able to be aged for years. For now this will be a seasonal beer offering.

Thanks IBrew2or3 for the share. Pours dark brown/ black with brown head. Aroma is chocolate malt, licorice, slight dark chocolate, and coffee. Flavor is chocolate malt, licorice, earthy coffee, down to earth flavor with dark chocolate flavors, too. Finish is bitter. Enjoyable beer, and smooth. Did not know it was 12%.

22 oz bottle. A delicious impy perfect for these cold days. I’ve been waiting for this an Black Magick to be released and they are worth the wait. This beer is big- strong licorice and chocolate aroma with a big thickness to it. Pour was a perfect dark black with a one finger tan head that laces the whole glass. The last bit of the bottle put a dark brown spot on the head as if there was actually chocolate topping it off. Taste was strong and full. Thick chewy chocolate with a strong peppery note in the aftertaste. There is an off kind of saw dust flavor on the back of the tongue. The beer is strong but doesn’t taste like 12%. Nice job!

UPDATED: DEC 2, 2011 2008-12-05. Black body with a large khaki head and lacing. Dry dusty malt aroma, sweet malt core. (7+) Flavour is likewise, with a dusty dry roast highlight over top of a rich dark malt base. (7+) Smooth creamy average to medium bodied palate is good for a cask. (3+) Solid beer! Cask at Goodbar, Buffalo

UPDATED: NOV 24, 2011 11/22/11: 22oz. Bottle: Aroma of chocolate, malt, roasting. Poured pitch black in color with a small, creamy, dense, tan/brown head. Very sparkling. 1/4/09: 22oz. Bottle: Aroma of chocolate, malts, roasting, vanilla, slight oak, and a hint of smoke. Poured black in color with a small, creamy, dense, brown head that diminished into a film that lasted throughout. Opaque. Not sparkling. Tiny lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of malts, roasting, chocolate, alcohol, tar, wood, light coffee, light sugar, oak, and a hint of smoke. Medium body. Thinish, chalky texture. Soft to average carbonation. Malty, chocolate, tar, hops, and slight smoke finish is moderately dry. There is no bourbon or bourbon barrel aging in this one, so I am confused as to why others say they can taste it. Nonetheless, the alcohol is a bit warm, but is well balanced out by other flavors, and not bad for 12%ABV. 7/4/8/4/15 = 3.8

Bomber at Zeno’s. Pours black as sackcloth with chocolate head. Nose of chocolate and roasted coffee, roast, mild boozy bourbon, slight oak and raisin. A great nose. Tastes of chocolate and coffee, mild roast, a great dose of bitter, some coffee and vanilla. Thick and viscous with slight smoke and mild alcohol. A great impy stout.

Shared bomber courtesy of Juart. Pours extremely black with a 1/2 finger dark tan thick head. Aroma of strong roasty coffee and caramel. Also huge fruity, oaky, and chocolate notes. Flavor is burnt bitter chocolate with a lot of alcohol and a strong oak flavor. Thought the alcohol is very strong, it is balanced nicely by the rich sweet chocolate and caramel flavors. The body is like used motor oil. Probably my favorite offering from Voodoo.

From bomber at Zeno’s courtesy of dpjuart. Smoky, oaky, chocolate Twizzlers. Roasted malt and coffee beans, dark chocolate. Good ’n Plenty. Super aroma. Dark black with little head. Medium viscous body with medium carbonation and smooooth. Starts sweet with chocolate, coffee, lactose, and vanilla. Tasty with light alcohol, oak, and toasted marshmallow. This is really a good impy stout with a nice touch of smoky character. Great find.

Poured an opaque black color with a medium sized, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, vanilla oak, dark fruits, chocolate, and a bit of smoke. Taste of of more roasted malts up front, smoke, chocolate, toffee, vanilla, with a dry coffee finish, and some alcohol as well.

Poured an almost pitch black color with a small tan head. Aroma was very roasted, hints of burnt coffee and the bourbon shines through a little bit also. Flavor was very surprising. Not like a lot of impys where one flavor sticks out, here, the oak/bourbon, chocolate, coffee and vanilla all meld very well and cover up the alcohol extremely well. Not quite why this is retired, its going to be released in bottles very soon according to the brewer.
