COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is our Imperial Stout that we age in conditioning tanks with oak staves. This adds a classic character of old world aging without the Bourbon tones. This black ale is about 12% ABV and very rich in roasted and chocolate malt tones. Velvety smooth and able to be aged for years. For now this will be a seasonal beer offering.

This stout is AWESOME. Like drinking a chocolate espresso with no bitter. Hardly any burn at all. I would definitely grab one of these again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma - rich roast, chocolate, and some alcohol Appearance - black body. Minimal head, just a sliver of beige head. Rings out quickly. Taste - full roast, licorice, some chocolate, burnt sugar, and alcohol Palate - body is full, the texture is slick, the carbonation is average, the finish is astringent with a rich roast and alcohol.

12 oz bottle from a trade with mdg64. Pours dark brown / black color with light brown head. Aromas of dark roasted malt, chocolate, and ash. Moderately bitter roasted malt flavor with some chocolate. Slightly ashy finish. Full body with moderate carbonation. Good stuff. Thanks Marc.

Cellared for about a year. Very smooth. Sweet, but not overly so, especially at 12%. Raisin and dark fruit, coffee, brown sugar, roast. Bourbon booziness within reason. Coats the palate and trails off nicely. One of the better high gravity beers I’ve tried.

Sample on tap @ Voodoo Homestead. Pours pitch black with a thin off white ring. Nice aroma of roasted malts with a hint of coffee. Medium body, fairly thick but somewhat thinner than some stouts. Nice earthy tone with roasted malts and just a touch of coffee. Leaves a nice coating in the mouth. Hides the alcohol very well. Nice smooth finish. No bitterness or harsh flavors. Very enjoyable.

Shared at a bottle share, hosted by Mickey before the U-of-M game on October 10. Poured from a 750 mL bottle that I brought. The pour on this is thick and oily black with a small cap of light brown head and no lace as it makes its way down to forming a thin collar. The aromas are great. There is a light bourbon booziness to it, followed up by a strong dark fruit on the immediate front. There is a nice molasses sweetness, some light brown sugar, and a nice heavy roasted malt on the back end. It’s surprisingly balanced. The flavors are also just as good. I’m even detecting a little coffee and chocolate to come with the molasses and the malts. The dark fruits and bitter roast really keep hitting hard as you drink this one. The mouth feel is a little light. There is a nice carbonation, but it just isn’t thick enough to cling to the mouth and tends to fall off quickly. The aftertaste is lingeringly bitter roast with a hint of bourbon and a little sweetness. Solid brew, I might need to find some more of this!

Bottle @ Camping RateBeers 2015; Nat & Winderig, courtesy of the crew! Pours a pitch black beer with a small beige head on top. Aroma of light coffee, molasses, roast and slight caramel. Flavor is light sweet, loads of chocolate and light vanilla. Very thick mouthfeel, long bittersweet aftertaste. A very nice well balanced imperial stout.
