neongolden (1607) - Linköping, Sweden/Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 9, 2017
(On tap @ Mikkeller and Friends, Copenhagen, May 11/17) Pours black with a tan head. Notes of sweet dark chocolate, dark toffee, fudge, creamy vanilla, pretty rich bourbon, coconut, some wood, moderate roast, some coffee, a touch of dark fruit, rich, round, some liqueur, rather sweet overall but balanced roast and wood, long aftertaste. Medium-full bodied, a bit syrupy, very soft carbonation. Super, this is a big stout with a big barrel character that is nicely rounded out, full, and intense. Extremely similar to the Old Forester version, could barely discern them side by side, but this one felt slightly more rounded and well-balanced.
