COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Part of the Hashtag Series #cibola is a Triple IPA brewed with honey, hopped at over 5lb/bbl, and triple dry hopped. #cibola (or Nic Cage: Great Actor or Greatest Actor?) Itís no secret that Nicolas Cage is the worldís greatest method actor. On his journey to find #cibola and its #GoldenPromise of #elDorado, Nic Cage (or The Cage, as his buds call him) inspired a small brewery in downtown Meadville, Pennsylvania (thatís us) to create an epic triple IPA that could live up to the epic-ness that is Nic Cage. It just seemed like destiny when we had bags of Golden Promise malt and an abundance of el Dorado hops. So #cibola was born. Itís a hop bomb with 5 lbs of hops per barrel (thatís 50 lbs of hops total) of mostly el Dorado and Galaxy hops. (These hops produce more of a citrus note, rather than overly bitter and grapefruity one). Even with the 30 lbs. of local and organic honey (to give those yeasty creatures something more to munch on) and the added honey malt, the beer isnít overly sweet like your typical triple IPAs. And because weíre not biased at all, we think itís a highly drinkable 10.2% ABV triple IPA that will appeal to even the most staunch Hop Haterz. Plus, it looks sexy in a glass:

Bottle. Big peachy nose. Golden with minimal head. Hoppy peach and grapefruit flavor with boozy finish. Very drinkable. I enjoyed this.

Bottle at home thanks to nielsenratings. Pours a dark gold color. Aroma is straight up grapefruit juice. Flavor is juicy and grapefruity, kind of one note but hits that note perfectly.

Pours very nice honey yellow. Nose is pure grapefruit, which I like in an IPA. Mouth is a little syrupy and the taste is very fruity bitter.

Bottle @ gmellison from a generous trader. Pours a touch hazy, dark golden appearance with a white head. Aroma is just bursting with grapefruit juice and some tropical fruits. A little strong, kind of thick / goopy, somewhat boozy and quite a bit of sweetness. Hops are a bit spicy and dank but again, the flavor is straight up grapefruit juice. Pretty fucken good.

22oz bottle thanks to artmcd8, awesome, thanks! Pours a clear dark orange with a thin head and some spotty lacing, aroma is of a ton of citrus and oranges, like a ton of orange, really good, the flavor has a lot of citrus and mango and orange on the front with a smooth finish, balance is really nice, not too bitter and the abv was well hidden, nice light mouthfeel, really nice stuff here.

Bomber thanks to Dan. Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. A big rich nose of candied orange jellies. The flavor is very interesting: rich marmalade, tiny bitterness, lemons, sugary sweet almost barley wine notes, more tropical fruit. Oddly this is both smooth and yet huge. I guess the honey dose and heavy late additions (rather than a balanced effort) give it this. For the first time, Iím buying triple IPA potentially. Very good.

This one poured a haz yellow color with a white head. Aroma was of big tropical fruit notes, grapefruit rind and light booze. Flavor was similar, no malt really at all, just lightly sweet, and big fruity tropical hops. Alcohol shows, but to be expected for something this big.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear bright orange with a full white head. Aroma of citrus hops, peach, some mango. Tests is berry well balanced and maybe a bit on the bitter side but this beer hides the alcohol extremely well. Medium thick mouth feel with a light to medium amount of carbonation. Very well done.
