Ernesto987 (6015) - Arizona, USA - DEC 20, 2016Boom, laser show. Voodoo can really make a stout. This is a fantastic barrel blend. Base is a roasty bomb, then the vanilla isnt sweet but very flavorful.
Sammy (13365) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 19, 2016Andrew’s bottle. Not too much left from the bottle after 2.5 years. Decent stout but heat nevertheless.A little head, a little smoke.
Johnsense (1850) - - JUN 19, 2016UPDATED: JUN 19, 2016 Pitch black pour, smaller head. Peppery aroma, dark cocoa, roasted malt. Pepper not overwhelming in the taste, roasted malt, wood, brandy notes. Thicker body. Nice!
TXBadger (2811) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAY 16, 2016Pours an opaque dark brown almost black color with khaki colored head. Brandy, plenty of it on the nose, vanilla, oak, spices, chocolate and some candied fruit as well; follows onto the palate. Full bodied. Finishes with much of the same with additional lingering light tingle from the peppers.
corby112 (2805) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 4, 2016Pitch black and opaque with a two finger beige head that slowly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Decent retention for the style and ABV with spotty streaks of lacing left behind.
Deeply roasted dark malt aroma with strong cinnamon spice and roasted chillies. Barrel is very faint with subtle oak and brandy sweetness. The roast and pepper are countered by luscious chocolate malt sweetness. Some chalky, peppery heat standing out in the nose. Slightly burnt malt character with coffee bean and toast along with caramel sweetness, light cocoa, toffee and bakers chocolate. Smells excellent with a great spice/pepper presence but could use a bit more brandy barrel.
Full end of medium body with a strong spicy pepper kick that lingers over the barrel notes and complex malt bill into a spicy, dry finish. Peppers excellently complimented by heavy cinnamon spice. Subtle dry oak with delicate char and very faint brandy apple sweetness that stands out as it warms. Roasted malt with coffee bean, burnt sugar, and toast countered by luscious chocolate malt sweetness. Awesome beer!
