COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Curt came up with this crazy idea over 5 years ago and now, 3 years in the making, is finally ready for your enjoyment. He first started by seeking out the finest local honey and maple syrup and aged it in freshly emptied bourbon barrels for over a year. Then he brewed the biggest beer weve ever made, a robust imperial stout with house apple wood and hickory smoked Munich malt, and aged it in the barrels that previously held bourbon, maple syrup and honey. The result is a truly complex work of liquid art designed to be savored."

Whats there to say about this beer that hasnt already been said or graded? Smells and tastes of the purest of maple syrup. Regret offering to share this, as my 4oz pour was not nearly enough. 5 stars, all day long.

From notes. Enjoyed at a tasting Kyle finally made it to at Mickeys on December 01. 12 oz bottle. The pour is a lighter black with a thin dark tan ring of head and no lace as it vanishes. The aroma is really good. There is a lot of booze up front, but the fudgy maple comes through well. There is a light vanilla, a strong caramel and light vanilla. Its sweet and quite boozy. The flavor is much of the same. Lots of alcohol, but the adjuncts really step up. The maple, dark chocolate, light marshmallow, molasses, and barrel Its just fantastic. The mouth feel is thick and chewy with a soft carbonation and a lingeringly sweet alcohol, fudge, and maple aftertaste. This is just a killer beer.

Bottle shared, thanks! Dark brown with a ring tan head. Aroma is hugely woody with vanilla, bouzy bourbon, maple syrup, chocolate, toffee, molasses, caramel, malt, fudge. Flavour is heavy sweet. Full bodied with alcohol warmth and soft carbonation. A lot of hype on this one but it is a very decent impy. [17-09-2016]

Bottle at north vs south tasting. Poured deep oily black with a light tanned ring on the Side. The nose on this beast is just incredible. Sweet sticky honey, fudge, thick molasses, sweet bourbon, marshmallows, light sweet smoke, big sweet molasses, maple syrup. Taste is amazing, big sweet honey notes, maple, lots of sweet complex bourbon. Amazing thick mouthfeel. One of the best stouts i have had this year. Such an amazing sweet complex brew. So Many layers. Amazing

RBSG 2016 shared at the Grand Tasting. Bottle. Viscous nearly black body. Concentrated, intense flavours of molasses, vanilla, fudge, berries (lending a Neopolitan ice cream vibe to this). An excellent sweet imperial, just delicious. A standout in a sea of great beers!

RBSG Pgh 2016 grand tasting. Big & black, looks like its large & in charge. So mildly attractive on the nose for an imp. Some chocolaty flavors greet the tongue on the first try. Wow, I hate imp stouts but this is so civilized and attractive. Smooth. Yes, malty chocolaty fun all round. Most beers with choco are not well balanced, this is. Just a nice impy fer sure, which makes me wonder if its really imp at all! If this really is an imp stout, one of the better made ones IMHO. Since I hate impstout, I dont know if this means anything, but I find it right up there with Dogfish Head World Wide Stout 2002 (23%), Mad Brewer Black Storm, Spring House Big Gruesome Peanut Butter Cup, Southern Tier Blackwater Series: Choklat and Two Brothers Northwind Imperial Stout. Nice job, but I wonder if they can continue to duplicate this brew. Repeatable? Better be listed & separated by year? Near the end, some of that mild coffee comes thru but this stuff never comes across as artificial, just well made civilized imp stout all the way. So that makes me wonder if it should be in the imp category at all! Big thanks! You guys ROCK!

Bottle at RBSG PGH 2016 Grand Tasting. Dark brown color. Aroma has burnt licorice, tannins, vanilla, espresso. Taste is rich, boozy in a good way, very roasty with lots of woody notes. Delicious.

Pitch black and oily. not too much head. This smells a lot like Adam from the wood which I know is a weird comparison but its there. maple is light, booze is present. a little coffee and a lot of barrel. The flavorits good. I think honey totally dominates over the beer. I think the maple syrup takes a complete back-seat entirely. Its very oily, not very thick and liqueur almost like a brandy or cognac is center-here. I do get other coffee, vanilla, etc elements but this is like a thick syrupy honey mess and while intense, its not all that balanced. Very cool label though.
