Bottle... Pours mostly clear and deeply amber with a thin, fleeting, white head. The aroma features caramel and more caramel and agave tequila. Medium to full-bodied and sticky with stinging carbonation. Boozy-hot tequila has taken over here. The flavor hints at caramel and toffee and delivers lots of ethanol and tequila, but that’s all. Why Voodoo why? Not flawed, but not at all good. Bottle courtesy of landhoney! koleminer20 (3463) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - FEB 27, 2016
From notes. Enjoyed at the 3rd Annual Barleywine Tasting at Travis’s house on February 20. 22 oz bottle. I was excited for this one, until I caught a whiff. Oh boy. The pour looks pretty nice. It’s got a decent orangey-brown color with a thicker frothy white head. It falls somewhat quickly, leaving a plethora of lace behind. The aroma is pretty rough. There is an assload of green apple right in the face. There is a little agave, and a ton of sugar, but this is just not good. The apples drown everything out. The flavor is even worse. There is a little more of a true tequila flavor to go with green apple. One of the worst combinations I could think of in a beer, let alone a barleywine. The mouth feel is terribly thin. There is a sharp bubbly carbonation and a lingeringly appley finish. This is terrible. At some point someone referred to it as ‘Taco Lips’ through the night, so the following two hashtags are appropriate for the finish of this terrible beverage. #tacolips #geeenappleeverything.
