Supermarket Own Label beer that used to be brewed by Pivovary Vratislavice until they merged with Prague Breweries. The beer is now made at the Staropramen Brewery. Outlets involved in selling this beer under their own label include: Waitrose, Tesco, Somerfield, Gateway, Thresher, Co-op and United North West.
Since Vratislavice merged with Staropramen the supermaket "Czech Lager" own label brands, if showing 5% abv, may well be the regular Staropramen (which on RateBeer is termed "Staropramen Ležák (Premium Lager) 12")

Bottle at Neils, since he’d bought it and id not tried it ...amber ... sweet grassy hop ... sweet juicy toffee malts ... little grapefruit ... little oily ... not bad actually

EFC1878 (315) - Manchester, Greater Manchester, ENGLAND - NOV 29, 2008
Bottle from Tesco. Typical Czech colouring with a frothy white head that resolves to a thin film. Slightly grassy hop aroma with malt predominating. Mostly malt in taste with hoppy overtones. Crisp finish. Perfectly acceptable beer, if nothing special. Retails at Tesco for 99 pence a bottle which is unbelievable value. One for the discerning cheapskate.

undercurrent25 (2203) - Barnton, Cheshire, ENGLAND - SEP 14, 2008
UPDATED: JAN 6, 2012 Dry and crisp on the taste, saaz hops dominate the aroma and the palate, fairly decent czech lager
