Draught at Pivni Galerie, Prague. The PG beer list says ABV is 4.9%, but the brewery website says 4.5%. Plato is 11%. "Havran" seems to mean "raven" in English, acccording to the website. Black colour, moderate tan head. Nice lacing. Malty aroma with notes of leather, liquorice and tobacco. Easily drinkable, moderate but nice roastiness, hints of liquorice. A slight sweetness in the aftertaste. Very good. Quack-Duck (9540) - Down South, GERMANY - JUN 16, 2007
bottle. Dark brown, nearly black. Impressively large and creamy head. Malty flavour with hints of roasted malt, caramel and coffee. Hoppy finish, long aftertaste. pivnizub (10912) - Bochum, GERMANY - SEP 17, 2005
UPDATED: MAR 20, 2008 Bottle (Pivni Galerie): Very dark, almost as black as a raven (czech: havran), thin brownish lacing head; mainly malts in the nose (also roasted malts, molasses), some fruitiness; quite dry malty beginning, roasted malts, chocolate and caramel in the taste, ending in a distinctive bitter (cacao) - malty , a bit longer lasting; quite medium (!) bodied; absolutely not sweet, well balanced; a very, very pleasant Dunkel !

A red-brown beer with an orange head. The aroma is very sweet with lots of caramel, but also light notes of licorice. The flavor is also very sweet with lots of caramel and some licorice - it is like candy, just like Danish Hvidtøl, though more than doubled in ABV. The mouthfeel is very carbonated, before the dry roasted end sets in. Nice one. jonas (8281) - Garching close to the monks, GERMANY - JUL 12, 2006
Bottle. Big roasted brown sugar aroma. Hazy dark red brown, gorgeous lacing creamy brown head. Surprisingly lightbodied, but thats not a bad thing - quite delicate sugary roast flavor, coal, a bit chocolate. Quick finish, a hint of licorice in the aftertaste. Pleasant and easy to drink in the current summer heat. Thanks to pivnizub for providing this gem! jbrus (4988) - Delft, NETHERLANDS - DEC 13, 2004
Although 2 months past it’s expiration date this still tasted surprisingly fresh. Why do they use such a short date? Light chocolat aroma with flowers. Very dark ruby color, beige/brown head, very nice lace. Sweet, chocolat, roasted, light bitter. Soft and light bodied. rlgk (18843) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - FEB 26, 2007
Amber color, brownish head. Chocolate and cocoa aroma, hoppy and maybe a bit smoky. Malty toffee flavor, vanilla and with a hoppiness that grows stronger in the finish. thewolf (12949) - Kolding, DENMARK - JUL 14, 2008
Bottle @ Pivovarsky Klub, Prague.
Pours black with soft brown edges. A nice, creamy, beige-brown head. Aroma is sweet, quite roasted with some sweet, soft chocolate. Light and pleasant mouthfeel. Flavour is really great, good tart fruitiness, raisins, plums and lots of roasted malts. Ends sweet with good chocolate notes. Nice.
