UPDATED: JAN 23, 2006 Quite like the colour but that is a far as it goes I reckon. Tastes like a mid strength, notes of caramel and/or butter, small amount of bitterness right at the very end.

Light sweet caramel and some hints of butterscotch in the vaguely fruity aroma. Clear amber-golden coloured body is topped by a low white head that recedes instantly to ring. Caramel and butterscotch up front in the flavour are joined by herbal, earthy hops and a surprising bitterness along with some light phenolics before giving way to the caramel sweetness once again. Medium light body with moderate carbonation is perhaps a touch watery in texture. Vienna? Tumbler. Just above fridge temperature. Bottle (5.2%, BB24/05/07, BCLS at Commercial, Sep-06).

Bottle, 5.2%. 11 months past BB date. OK bready and vinous aroma. Clear amber colour, small white head. The flavour is malty, vinous and bready. A little cream in the aftertaste. Ages better than their pale lager.

Pours deep copper good hed retention. Aroma is sweet and malty and floral. I taste some vienna malt. Very fruity. Bannana on the back palate.Very smooth and fresh. Bitter hoppy finish. Not the typical czech beer but I like it.

The smell isn’t too pervasive, mostly a standard malt smell. The red stands out quite a bit in this lager, the colours mix to almost make it look brown. The malt flavour is very, very smooth and tempered every so slightly at the end with the hops. Persoanlly I prefer more hops but I really can’t fault the flavour for it this time. It’s smooth tasteing all the way down and doesn’t leave any aftertaste. Nice and clean. Too bad this one was from the discounted flat that never sold and isn’t to be ordered again. :(
