LARRY was originally brewed this summer for the Publick Houses Hop Head Throwdown. David -- owner of the Publick House -- It was such a success in growlers here and at the Publick House, that we brewed another batch to go to speciality accounts. Well be putting it in 22s in March 85 IBUs 5-hops (Simcoe, Magnum, Amarillo, Cascade, Chinook)

Pours hazy amber with a thin white head. Smells of juicy fruit, grapefruit, melons, some underlying spiciness. Tastes of sweet citrus, melon, some peppery splashes with some phenolic notes on the finish. Bomber.

This beer is sooooo 2000 and late. Golden copper color with minimal head. Aroma is orange, caramel, tea, dried leaves, and mild pine. Taste is bitter and malty sweet. Like an old school east coast ipa.

Smells mostly like yeasty bread. Taste is a malty flavor that starts off with a bit that goes over the over taste with nice carbonation. Then after a min a nice hop dry finish. Good job.

This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a hazy bronzed orange to amber color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within a minute. Clingy lacing graces the sides of the glass. The smell starts off mainly with the sweet caramel malts up front gently allowing an ever so slight citrus bittersweetness, not bad. The taste involved the same sort of the flavors of the aroma to blend and lead into the aftertaste and a sticky finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body with a decent sessionable to sipping quality to it. Carbonation runs fairly low, and the stickiness hits decently along my tongue. Overall, I say this was a fairly decent DIPA to me, if anything its got a nice balance with the caramel side.

Can from Harvest Market, Bedford NH. Aroma is resiny, citrusy hops over bread/dough. Appearance is hazy yellow orange with finger width head with decent retention and lacing. Mild sparkle. Taste is mix of moderate sweet with a bit of citrus early with mild bitter late. Palate is medium bodied with thick, slightly slick texture, lively but not obnoxious carbonation and dry, crisp, mildly bitter finish. Overall, aroma is hop dominant but taste is nicely balanced for those not wanting to get run over by hops.

22 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a light amber color with a big cream-colored head. Retention is good and the surface has been covered with foam for 45 minutes now. Nice. Hoppy, but a strange hoppy. Its floral and orange citrusy, but theres a non-malty sweetness there thats hard to place. Just smells slightly sweet in a very light way. Theres also a hint of an after-smell that reminds me of my homebrew IPA that I could never quite place. Not as hop-forward as the smell. It has more bittering hops than aromatic hops, it seems. The bitterness comes even before the maltiness. The malt just barely peeks through and then fades to a lingering bitterness. Again, there is that strange homebrew flavor that I still cant place. Medium heavy body, but not too boozy or sweet. A little creamy. Well made, if a little underwhelming.

Pours a hazy golden orange from the can with dissipating off-white head that leaves good lace. Aroma of sweet caramel malt over citrus and pine hops. Taste follows, more toward the hop than the nose though, goal notes and bittersweet finish. Booze is nicely hidden, good beer but nothing too exciting.

Bottle. Moderate aromas all around, with bread for the malt, orange and grapefruit for the hops, soap for the yeast, with a hint of dried fruit and alcohol. Head is small, frothy, white with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is murky medium amber. Flavor starts moderately sweet and faintly acidic, then finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily, with a lively carbonation. A bit sweeter than I like for a DIPA, but this one it still nicely made and relatively easy drinking.

Nice IPA, slight scent with a nice golden color. A good light IPA taste without any aftertaste so overall very nice with a not-to-heavy taste ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
