22oz bottle from City Market Onion River Co-Op in Burlington, VT. Pours a very deep brown, mostly black colored body with a bit of a reddish hue around the edges. Finger-width, dense and creamy, brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is pretty sweet with a lot of lactose, a moderate roast, and some dark and milky chocolates. Some dark fruits in there as well. Flavor is better, but still has a ton of lactose sweetness to it. Some creamy, milky, dark chocolates with a medium roast to balance along with a bit of a dark fruitiness. Some vanilla comes out towards the end before this finishes sweet and dry with a light, roasty bitterness. Lengthy aftertaste with a bit of a charred note coming out following a creamy, medium-light body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, this wasn’t bad, but it had a bit too much lactose sweetness for me. Some nice, creamy chocolate notes and a decent roast backing, but not much else. Eh. Originally reviewed: 3/13/11. 22oz bottle, split with my wife, poured my allotment into a chalice. Pours a lighter than expected deep brown. This sits in the glass darker than it pours though. A small wispy tan head rests on top. The nose is sweet and creamy with notes of cookies, bread, dairy. Smooth mouth matches the style well. Easy-drinker. The flavors on this one are underwhelming. There’s some sweet lactose and mild roasted malts at the onset of each sip, but there is nothing lingering and the finish is abrupt. No aftertaste at all. Eh. This is an easy-drinking stout, but I’d like a little more flavor. Glad I had it, and still one of my favorite styles, but this was a bit lacking. brokensail (16631) - Dublin, California, USA - APR 26, 2012
Dark brown in color with a small head. Opens with roasted malt and mild coffee aromas. The nose is kind of bland and uninteresting. Maybe a light lactose sweetness and chocolate. The flavor is also pretty bland. Some coffee, toffee, roasted malt, and just a hint of lactose. Very minimal chocolate, too. Just mediocre at best. burg326 (5596) - Florida, USA - APR 16, 2012
22 ounce bottle that poured a dark brown almost black color, aromas of cream, milk, chocolate, and malt. Flavor is the same, almost like sweet malted milk balls. Light on the palate for a stout, but decent overall. GatorGuy92 (31) - Valrico, Florida, USA - FEB 23, 2012
Nothing too exceptional here. Smallish head that quickly recedes. No lacing. Decent flavor but pretty bland. I think I am going to give up on Milk and Sweet Stouts. They just don’t do anything for me.

on tap-pours a tan head and brown color. Aroma is coffee/cocoa, medium/dark malt, lactose. Taste is coffee/cocoa, medium/dark malt, lactose, some hops. Damico (3147) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 23, 2011
Aroma is milky, creamy, and light chocolatey. Pours dark crimson amber brown with a light tan head. The flavors of creamy milky malts from the lactose are nice and not heavy on the body. Body is lighter, easy to handle on the palate. OldGrowth (3474) - the Containment Area, North Carolina, USA - OCT 6, 2011
Bottle, from Luke’s Liquors. Ok aroma, sweet. Cocoa/ chocolate milk. Weak though. Blackish brown color, good head that faded quickly. Minor lace. Sweet flavor. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel, bitter sweet finish. Ok, aroma disappoints. Good flavor, nice head with vigorous pour. Flavor best part. nctomatoman (13) - Raleigh, NC, North Carolina, USA - SEP 20, 2011
Defines a "just plain nice, drinkable" stout - not Stone or BORIS the Crusher territory, but also easier to drink than those complex monsters. A bit yeasty and some coffee on the nose, rich, deep brown color, decent head that reduces quickly....smooth, with touch of bitterness on the palate, moderately full bodied with a distinct hint of bitter chocolate and some background coffee. Sipped before dinner from a 22 oz bottle purchased in Williamstown MA this summer.
