Caramel, yeast and plenty of fruit in an aroma that is nice and spicy. Syrup, fruity, hoppy - almost barleywine-like. Burnished copper coloured with tan head that recedes to ring. Flavour unfortunately does not live up to the aroma - strong, bitter orange, light roastiness but somehow flat. There’s no peaks or valleys. Mouthfeel is still and plain. Probably best enjoyed fresh. One year old bottle enjoyed with MartinT and Rastacouere. porterhouse (1580) - Boothbay, Maine, USA - FEB 9, 2007
(Bottle from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/massachusetts/w target=blank>Julio’s Liquors) OK but a little funny-tasting...Pours darkish amber with two fingers of rather rich-looking biscuit head. Recedes to a nice 1/2" cap. Nose not real strong but kind of caramel and vanilla. Mouthfeel fairly smooth but a little thin, lightly prickly. Some sloppy rings of lacing. Flavor starts with kind of weak caramel and vanilla maltiness followed by a surprise note of slightly smoky, kind of stinky/decaying peatiness that appears then disappears. Interesting but not very good. Weakly bitter. Lubiere (13905) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 29, 2007
A deep brown ale with a thick off white head. A light chocolate and caramel aroma. In mouth, a musty sweet caramel malt, with notes of bitter chocolate, light spiced notes. Medium bodied. Nice. 1.59$ at CJs Potsdam, 2007. swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - NOV 20, 2007

12 ounce bottle from Glenville beverage. The first thing that struck me about this one was the nutty aroma, very nice. Little head and little lace. Stored and served at 50 degrees. Malty, medium body, nice mouthfeel, ok balance.

Deep amber beer with a light caramelly aroma. Soft munich malt, light toast and a soft vineous character. Sweet and toffeeish with a rich caramelly character. Softly sweet and earthy with a bit of light toastiness. A little bit of light fruity sweetness. A bit of cherry fruitiness. It’s quite nice really.
