Cask: Special - Will Meyers travelled to Wadworth Brewery, in Wiltshire, UK, to collaborate in brewing this beer specially for the 2012 Wetherspoon real-ale festival.
This deep-golden-coloured ale, inspired by the ancient gruit beers of the British Isles and northern Europe, contains Scottish heather fl owers and other traditional brewing herbs, offering subtle notes of fruity spiciness and wildfl ower honey, complemented by the interplay of the hops and the toasty-sweet British malt. Hops used: Fuggles

Half pint at JDW real ale festival. Bronze colour, clear, small head retention ok. Slightly strange rubbery aroma, almost latex like. Tasted a bit like a lemon on the turn, notes of carrot and minerals. No real carbonation, smooth, texture a bit thin. Overall I’d say it was a bit like the Gose style.

Cask at the David Macbeth Moir. Pours orange amber, nose is floral, orange, honey, taste is similar.

Cask at The Moon Under Water (JDW), Watford on 24 Oct 2012. Poured a lightly hazy copper colour, with a spotty white head. Aroma of mild sulphur, herbs and perfume. Herbal, slightly medicinal flavour, with some brown sugar and dried fruit. Finish was ginger, malt and cereal.

SilkTork (5919) - Southampton, United Kingdom, Hampshire, ENGLAND - AUG 28, 2014
Oct/Nov 2012. JDW, West Quay - Brighton. Amber coloured. Initial awareness of medicinal flavours which fade. A sense of perfume. Then malt comes through - rather thin, dry and characterless. Lavender flavour emerges in taste and aroma. Interesting rather than attractive. Poor beer with odd flavourings added.

dynamiteninja (1930) - North Yorkshire, ENGLAND - APR 13, 2014

downender (9003) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - JAN 5, 2013
Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol, November 2012. Golden with a slight white head. Aroma of green herbs and honey. Flavour wise, there was more of the same, although the sweetness of the honey was too much for me. One of my least favourite beers in the JDW autumn festival.

Finn (8305) - Tromsø, NORWAY - JAN 3, 2013
Crosse Keys, Bank 5 Nov 12. JDW festivaløl. Gyldenbrun. Lavt luftig skum som fester seg litt til glasset. Bra krydderaroma. Ingefær. Smaken er tynn og har ingefærpreg. Litt tørr krydret ettersmak.

ManVsBeer (11103) - Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - DEC 2, 2012
Has a huge wild and herbal aroma. Golden with a thin head and lacks flavour.

Rune (13720) - Tromsø, NORWAY - DEC 2, 2012
Third-pint measure, festival ale, cask at Crosse Keys, City. Crystal clear, golden brown. No head. Floral fruity notes, half-dry. Dark honey and herbs added by tart berries and a touch of ginger. Crisp in the mouth. Different and quite possible to like (London, 05.11.2012).

anders37 (27577) - Malmö, SWEDEN - DEC 1, 2012
Cask @ Willow Walk, JDW, Victoria SW1. Pours a pale amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty weak spicy heather aroma. Fruity malty spicy heather flavor. Has a fruity malty heather finish.

Cask conditioned handpump Stick Or Twist Leeds 14/11/12. A blonde beer with a whitish head and lace. Sweet toffee and herbal lavender and heather notes. Delicate herbs but the sweetness is a shame. The Wadworth yeast hits you after a while as well. It’s a good mix of flacours which grew on me.
