Diacetyl and some coffee in the aroma. The taste is similar. Maybe a little chilli in the taste but not much. No plums?! Dissipointing.
Gravity dispense at Steel City Beer Festival 2016 - Dark brown body with thin beige head. Nose is dark fruit, a bit of spice. Taste is dark fruits, sweet coffee, and the chili then kicks in. Okay. AshtonMcCobb (6604) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - DEC 23, 2016
On cask at the Stockbridge Tap.
Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head.
Nose - coffee beanand creamy chocolate. A hint of green pepper.
Taste - forthright chili and chocolate. Still some coffee lurking.
Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish.
Overall - good though chilli a bit more than I prefer. edsspoon (900) - Nottinghamshire, ENGLAND - OCT 23, 2016
On gravity at Matlock & Dales beer festival - deep black with a fizzy light brown head. Faint lacing and good retention. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, hints of smoke and vanilla. Taste is light spice on the throat, vanilla and milk chocolate. Heavy body, oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Not really my thing. Grumbo (2947) - Ipswich, Suffolk, ENGLAND - SEP 27, 2016
Bottle from Gravity Station, Cardiff, and shared at the 3rd Ipswich bottle share. Pours black with a nice looking beige head. Strong aroma of chocolate and plum. Moderate sweetness and bitterness. Medium bodied and oily texture. Soft carbonation. The chilli is a slow burner, quite subtle, works really well with the chocolate. Enjoyed this. purpledragons (60) - Shrewsbury, Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 5, 2016
From a bottle. Pours pretty flat. Opaque. Lovely aroma. Fortunately I do like this style (Porter) and the subtle Chilli is a plus. Great!

Apr 2015 - Keg at Gravity Station, Cardiff. Very dark brown, small foamy brown head doesn’t endure, very full lacing. Aroma is papery, card, chili, a little vinegar sourness. Body is medium to light, smooth, tingly carbonation. Taste has some light roasted malts, soft chili, tomato, some vinegar. This one is just about holding together. It has a strange tartness that you would normally get from a dodgy cask. Maybe that’s the plum but, if so, it’s not improving matters. Nice level of chili. Bottle at home. Pours deep brown, sweet, light fruitiness, not getting much chili.

UPDATED: JUL 19, 2015 Gravity at The Liverpool Beer Festival. A hazy deep brown to black colour with a creamy beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, chilli and a hint of dark fruit. Taste of roasted malt and plum initially and then balanced with spicy chilli. Medium bodied and smooth texture. A roasted and warming chilli finish. Surprislingly balanced with malt and spice, nice. 500ml bottle, from Grunting Growler, Glasgow pop-up shop at The Drake, pours an almost black ale with a tan head. Àroma, treacle, toasted malt. Taste, molasses, caramel and bitter finish. Rather nicely rounded I thought. Lowenbrau (4277) - Asturias, SPAIN - DEC 25, 2014

Pours almost black with nice tan head. Spicy and roasty aromas. Some sour and sweet notes. Nice, hot and spicy aftertaste. Very enjoyable.
