Explodes out of bottle with a 5+ finger light brown head but fades quickly leaving only traces of lace. Murky brown/amber with a ton of chunky bits, ugliest beer I’ve seen in a while. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Nose is raisin and yeast. Starts with sweet raisin & plum, there is a hint of yeast in the background, finishes smooth and is actually very drinkable. $1.00 for a 12 oz bottle from Hoosick Street Discount Bev. Troy, NY. jb (3254) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAY 26, 2006
Cola - colored with a thick tan head. The thick head also had very nice retention. Malty aroma, caramel and raisins in the palate. This is a smooth creamy palate. A very nice vienna. JFURYCAT (1078) - East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 2, 2006
I detect apples, dark fruits and raisin in this very smooth well balanced beer. I had it at the brewery on tap. The aroma seems a bit weak and the flavor isn’t very pronounced-it just exists to appeal. The malty quotient here was appealing I have to say. sample at brewery - large tan head over toffee colored liquid. Sweeter malts and some hops and wood on the finsh. Nice. Sregnar35 (1030) - Rotterdam, New York, USA - JUL 4, 2007
On tap at Mahars. Poured brown with a small head. Aroma was weak, but pleasantly sweet. Flavor very full sweetness, very tasty brew.

Bottle (12oz). Deep clear ruby-amber with a smallish fizzy off-white head (3+). For once a WG that doesn’t foam up insanely, Moderately sweet lightly toasted cereal malt aroma, sweet citrus juice and mild floral hops. The taste follows - toasty, a hint of chocolate to go with cereal/rye grain and juicy malt, enough floral bitterness to balance. Average but appropriate body, nicely carbonated, very crisp and lightly bitter finish - very good beer, one of their better ones. McGarnigle (651) - Rochester, New York, USA - AUG 17, 2012
UPDATED: SEP 1, 2012 Bottle. I drank this with a meal (grilled pork chops) and thought it was spot on A nice hefty Vienna-style lager. Some malty sweetness, not much hop flavor. Possibly my favorite from this brewery/winery. IPFreely (1470) - Sanborn, New York, USA - NOV 20, 2003
Malty and sweet aroma on an amber colored beer with a cream colored head. Nice balance of malt and hops, some spice. Pretty good. boto (2211) - Granby, Connecticut, USA - FEB 11, 2004
12 oz. bottle: Yes, it is amber in color, just like the name. It pours pretty clear, with a little head. The aroma is malty sweet, with some caramel. The taste contains some roastiness to balance the sweetness. Some hops there in the background. Not too bad. It gets better with each sip. checkmatei1 (765) - Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 21, 2008
Bottle: Poured a dark amber color. The aroma was lightly toasted caramel. The flavor was smooth, somewhat nutty, malty with a light hop character mixed in. Overall, smooth and tasty!
