Welcome warmer weather with this full-bodied robust porter. Peat-smoked malt and New York State maple syrup dominate the nose. The palate starts out with big notes of caramel and molasses finishng with a pleasant hop character.Available March-June

Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy and garthicus. Deep, near-opaque ruby-brown, smallish frothy diminishing tan head. Sweet aroma, hints of woodsmoke and slightly burnt bitterness. Taste is sugar-sweet, harsh, burnt treacle and odd annoying harsh bitterness - a bit like soda fountain syrup. Thin, sticky body, sharply carbonated, harsh aftertaste - no.... didn’t really care for it.

12 oz bottle from the brewery. Dark brown pour, small light brown head. Roasted malt, a little chocolate. Some nutty notes. Not much maple. Slightly bitter close. Mid-plus bodied. Solid.

Poured from a bottle into a tulip: Pours dark brown with a light brown foamy head. Aroma of maple, booze, caramel, roasted malts. Taste is moderately sweet, nuts, maple, dried leaves, roasted notes. Surprisingly light body for something I was expecting to be sweet and heavy. Lacks flavor in general but isn’t offensive. It’s alright.

Tap. Almost black on pour. Burger head. Some webbing. Banana and maple syrup aromas. Roast malt behind. Taste follows. Drinks sweet, but if that’s your bag add a couple to taste and overall. Well executed, but aimed at the niche.

On tap @ Rattle N Hum. As good as black bin the glass with a small quickly sidesticking dark beige top. The nose is nice and roasty with lots of chocolate paper and softly roasted malts. Some coffee as well. About average soft prickling carbonation and a good thick oily mouthfeel. Chocolate, coffee and dark roasted malts dominates the taste. Some brownie cake also actually. Quite a tasty one. 13.06.2013

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2014 01.07.2013, tap @ Rattle ’n Hum:
Nice creamy longlasting head. Aroma is sweet, dark malts, mocha, caramel, coffee, dark sugar, grass, maple syrup. Taste is watery, dark malts, caramel, chocolate, dark sugar, mocha, hay, grass, maple syrup. Medium bitterness, very thin body. Boring, too sweet.

Bottle around my sisters pool out of a big ol’ plastic cup on the fourth of July. Pours a clear cola brown with a medium sized tan head. Sweet paper and a touch of malt and roast. Bitter paper. Medium bodied, roast and paper. Nasty paper flavors overpower a small bit of roasnt and cocoa. Chocolate, roast and cocoa, more nasty old paper and hints of infection. Unpleasant. The bulk of this went over the fence into the woods.
