Bottle, pours a light amber with a thin bubbly head. A floral hop aroma with some grassy and citrus touches. On the palate, the caramal malt is quickly followed by the stronger citrus hop character. An off point would be some tartness in the finish. Doesn’t quite bring back good memories of the Baroona from a few years ago, but reasonably drinkable. bozoNZ (778) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - FEB 13, 2007
UPDATED: APR 23, 2008 2l rigger from the brewery. Bright straw gold, thin whispy white head. A waft of orange & cut grass on the nose. Lovely palate. I do love this beer. Woody & dry with hints of marmalade, a fantastic malt / hop balance. Could drink it all night.
Retasted 04/08 330ml bottle - not a shadow of it’s former self. missing body and character. Light colour, biscuity and nutty but nothing else. 4-2-4-2-9 JoeMcPhee (9517) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 1, 2005
Hazy pale golden colour with a nice spicy/grassy Saaz hop nose. Flavour is quite hoppy with minimal sweet caramel malts. Grassy and spicy flavour with a touch of lingering bitterness. Nice brew. beerledgend (1196) - Waterloo, Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 8, 2005
pale straw colour with no head. More like a pale lager than a pale ale. very soapy flavour. must have got a bad batch Sully (1380) - Potts Point, New South Wales, AUSTRALIA - JUN 3, 2004
Baroona, got to be the right style, Baroona, got to have the right smile.......er hang on I think that is an old advertisement for a moselle. Oh yeah, Muroomba! OK then, this was a good looker in the glass, clean straw and white head. Nose is a good hoppy presence and taste is light, fruity and clean. Another example from EnZed that they can do a fine beer. Actually, my father-in-law was born on Waiheke Island. Uh, yeah. I suppose, so what. But, ah........... forget it.

definite kiwi hops in use here, heaps of kiwi fruit/passionfruit, pretty light texture otherwise, simple, tasty and easy to drink. eczematic (1325) - Adelaide, AUSTRALIA - APR 20, 2004
pale gold, very slightly hazy. aroma of bread, grapefruit, passionfruit, slight nuttiness - mixture of pilsener and APA smells (NZ cascade + NZ saaz). sweet and honeyish at first, clean and slippery in the mouth, then very crisp, acidic like an NZ sav.blanc. - soft, pilsenery bitterness grows, along with bread and vanilla in aftertaste. Very clean, drinkable accessible stuff, obviously lagered - is this a "cream ale"?
