Bottle 33cl. @home poured into a shaker. Clear medium to deep amber, tall frothy beige head, dissipates slowly, good lacing; aroma toasted malts, caramel, light coffee, faint dark fruits; taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, burnt caramel, chocolate, bit earthy; sweetbitter aftertaste, malty, chocolate and roasty notes; medium body, oily texture, average carbonation; very good.

Bottled. 15cl sample. The aroma has bread, nuts, some pine. Bit hazy, brown coloured beer with a medium sized, off-white head. The taste is light-moderate bitter, has some caramel, bread, nuts, bit piney hops. Medium bodied beer. Nice.

I love imperial brown ales. Good ones have an opportunity to really foreground the sweet, rich maltiness of the brown malts and add some hop forward character to boot. This one does both. Nutty, chocolately, and rich. Resinous finish. I wouldn’t characterize it as balanced, but sometimes you want an aggressive beer and this is that.

Johannes59 (23) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JUL 31, 2017
UPDATED: AUG 4, 2017 Donker ondoorzichtig van kleur. Smaak Is van cacao en koffie en zoet. Niet al te overheersend qua bitterheid.

DijkBier (651) - AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS - JUL 13, 2017
UPDATED: OCT 20, 2017 Dark brown pour with a foamy beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, cocoa, dark fruit, some light nutty and also coffee tones. Taste is moderately sweet and bitter, butterscotch, but more bitter in a late aftertaste. Rather strong carbonation, oily mouthfeel. Nice dark beer with enough richness. [Three months later: clear ruby dark-brown pour with small beige head. Roasted malts, coffee, nuts. More bitter than sweet; alcoholic, with a small peppery feel. Still a nice and rather rich dark beer].

Donkerrood/bruin, beige foamy schuimkraag, troebel, redelijk wat koolzuur. Aroma: Geroosterde mout, iets rokerig, noten, hout, aarde, karamel, toffee. Smaak: Flink roasty, salmiak, karamel, geroosterde mouten, donker brood/biscuit, veel chocolade in de nasmaak, hout, natte aarde, noten. Lekker spicy gehopt....kruidig en prima bitter. Beetje alcohol warmte. Flink moutig biertje. Medium tot volle body, zacht en romig, voldoende koolzuur. Afdronk is kruidig/spicy en bitter.....iets droog. Prima bier!

Bottle from het Biermoment, BB 2 2018, 33 cl sample. Hazy redbrown color, medium rocky head. Aroma of bready malt and roast, slight blackcurrant and dark fruit. Soft to medium bitterness, dark bitter fruit and pine, dry roastiness. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Another good beer from Walhalla, good job!

Inoven (1041) - Oirschot, NETHERLANDS - MAY 29, 2017
