140712. Tap at baileys taproom, portland. Aroma crystal malts, some hops. Metallic taste that destroys this.Thin bodied. But Not Bad. drpimento (3634) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 12, 2012
Not bad, not great. Poured at a good temperature with an average off white head and some lace. Color is a very slightly hazy dark amber. Aroma is super mild with only a hint of malt and hop. Flavor’s like nose, carbonic tang up front, followed by bitter/sweet. Not a lot going on. Body and carbonation are good. Finish is like flavor, average length, and forgettable. Dark amber in color, clear with a thin head. Nice Malt and hops aroma. Big alcohol flavor and finish. There is a caramel flavor and finish. Nice strong English ale. riversideAK (6261) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - MAR 22, 2012
Somewhat fruity, dark fruit, nutty nose, a little toast, roast and earthy hop characteristics. Pours dark brown, auburn and shit. Nutty, fruity, dark fruit, a little tropical, dry, earthy. Nice mix of flavors. Dry finish, Beer is somewhat thin. can8ianben (1545) - State College, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 21, 2011
Strong sweet malt flavor throughout. Pleasant west coast hops and a nice bitter finish tie it all together. Really nice but rather immemorable.
Lagerboy (2206) - British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 31, 2011
Clear dark amber with a fading tan head. Aroma of caramel and dark roasty malts, which are nicely balanced with a generous amount of hops. Medium bodied, also some fruit and nuttiness. Slow bitter finish.
Nice stong ale. NFL (Not For Lagerboys) troopie (2339) - Munchen an der Willamette, Oregon, USA - AUG 16, 2011
Draught. My Border ancestors drank ale like this. Deep amber red with lasting off white head. Sweet malty aroma. Very full. Full bodied. Malt with some peatiness. Lasting malt finish, with enough hop to keep it honest. Excuse me, friends, I must now go and steal horses. hayduke (5204) - Eureka, California, USA - JUL 8, 2011
This 22 oz. bottle poured a dark amber with a robust tan head and good lacing rings. Nose was crawling with malty aromas including rye. Medium body and smooth and chewy mouthfeel. Flavor is very malty, with all sorts of flavors including nuts. The finish was lightly bitter and with some subtle fruit that was delightful. This was kind of like an English Bitter but smoother and easier to drink than most. Excellent. This small brewery is making good beer. Strykzone (7356) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - JUL 7, 2011
22 oz. bottle sent by Hayduke. Enjoyed during a facebook chat. This beeer poured a mahogany brown and was mostly clear. A tan that was one finger at best but that had strong retention. A very unique nose was sweetness and rye. The flavor began with huge rye and grain. That grain was complex and made me wish I was more familiar with varieties of it. Chocolate and rye were tasted but other nuances were missed. Late, some hops began to emerge. They were mildly bitter and offered soft fruit. This was such a fun beer to sample and rate. Beginning with a unique blast it later allowed nuances to be tasted. Thanks, Ron! DYCSoccer17 (3697) - Woodland, California, USA - JUL 25, 2010
10 ounce sample from the Horse Brass Pub in Portland, OR. It’s amazing that it took this beer 6 years to acquire 10 ratings. Aroma is rather mild with light caramel and light fruity hints. Mildly metallic, too. Transparent amber body with an off-yellow head that leaves decent lacing. Starts a little fruity and sweet, before it becomes chewy, caramelly, and toasted with maltiness in the middle. Finishes with decent roastiness and some metallic hops. Pretty tasty.
