On tap at the Horse Brass Pub. Pours a dark black color with a subtle ruby transparency and a thick layer of creamy tan foam. Aroma of black cherry skins, coffee, and dark chocolate. The cherry aroma is nice and authentic, bringing out the skin tannins quite well. Medium light bodied, crisply carbonated mouthfeel. The cherry jumps out on the palate immediately, assaulting it with a medicinal-esque sudafed like quality. I found the aroma to be nice initially, but after tasting it, I can smell a bit of the medicinal quality as well. Some dark smokey malt flavors take over from the cherries, dry and bitter with a chocolately grain husky quality. As the mild roast flavors fade away, the hops really take over, leaving a pithy white grapefruit rind bitter residue left sitting on the tongue. Well attenuated, exceptionally dry, clean, and masterfully created, but I find the cherry to be a bit too medicinal in quality and the hops to be too overpowering on the backend to fully appreciate the artistic construction of this one. On Tap at BrewPub. Pours out Black Black Black topped with a tan head. Great sweet aroma of cherrys. Pretty cool The great tast of a stout with a nice combo of cherrys. Very nice.. IndianaRed (4544) - Boise, Idaho, USA - APR 29, 2007
On Tap Pitc0h black with a thick ttan head. Thick sticky lacing. Big time sweet dark cherry aroma mostly eclipsing the dark malt base. The cherry cannot hold back the roasted smokey malt flavors. The fruit makes a nice medley as it comes through a bit. Slighttly mediciney like fruit extracts can be but it works well. A bit thin and a nice sofr carbonation.

Draft: Pours 1 finger tan head and very dark brown, roasty and sweet aroma of black cherry. Flavor is rich malty chocolate notes and a big black cherry sweetness. The cherry is amazing, it really tastes like you are biting into a black cherry. The cherry sweetness is well balanced by some coffee and hop bitterness on the finish. A great balanced fruity stout. I would love to have an Imperial of this. That would probably make my top 5. Juancho (239) - Georgia, USA - JAN 20, 2007
on tap at Rose & Raindrop, Portland,OR.
This is a unique beer. It’s truly delicious if you’re in the taste for a little fruti infusion in your beer. The fruit is never overwhelming. Nice beer.

On tap at Collins Pub. Pours an opaque black with a creamy tan head. The aroma is cherries and coffee. Full body. The taste says these are black cherries. Sort of like coffee with chocolate and cherries in it. Espresso and cherry finish. The cherries carry through without being overwhelming at any point along the way. Dark with a thin tan head. Aroma is chocolate covered cherries which carries through the flavour. Nedium bodied and enjoyable if you like a strong cherry presence. Finishes somewhat sweet with a lingering cherry. troopie (2321) - Munchen an der Willamette, Oregon, USA - SEP 30, 2006
Small brown head with mild lacing. Cherry and chocolate nose. Blacker than night, a searchlight wouldn’t shine through this beer. Cherry and malt flavour. Sweet finish. with cherry and strong coffee notes. This is a dessert beer, something to drink after the meal. glkaiser (1214) - Seattle, Washington, USA - SEP 13, 2006
UPDATED: AUG 23, 2007 Tasted at Horse Brass in Portland. One of the few dissapointments from Walking Man for me. Black with huge head. Strong cherry aroma. Really thin. Tastes like cherry cough syrup. Awful. I pick up nothing from the stout...just cherry syrup everywhere. I’d like to try this again...maybe it was having an off night there.
Re rate: I’ve tried this several times over the past year or so, and just can’t change my opinion. I want to like this beer so much, as cherry and stout sound so damn good together. The thing that ruins it for me is the strong aroma of cherry NyQuil. Affects the taste and ruins the whole thing for me. The cherry is just too fake for me. skoisirius (1909) - Earth, Washington, USA - JUL 29, 2006
On tap at Collins Pub, Seattle, WA. Pours a thick black color that is not see through one bit. A slightly tannish, slightly reddish small foamy head sits atop the brew. Sourish black cherries perfume off the brew like you’re smelling black cherry chocolate ice cream or something of the sort. Just a beautiful aroma. A tiny bit of chocolatish malt hangs around with the cherry aroma, but not by much. The flavor is quite smooth and full bodied. The cherries are cut down a bit on the tongue which consists of a frontwards sweet malt mixing with the cherries, which then moves into some chocolate and small hoppyness towards the finish. A tiny bit of coffee hangs around toward the back of the throat. I really enjoyed this one!!
