When I travel to Portland, I try to go to Henry’s to specifically drink this awesome beer. The taste is great and it is strong enough to get your attention

Fruit in the nose, yet not quite cherry, more current fruit? Malt mixes and is quickly overtaken by cherry and a tinge of alcohol. As the cherry fades chocolate and malt sweetness rush in to the void before a slight cherry resurgence.

Dark draft pour. Strong cherry aroma. Mild stout taste with chocolate and cherry flavors. Overall this is a great, must have beer. Very impressed.

I has this at Horse Brass in Portland and drove to the brewery in Stevenson WA to buy some. This awakens you with a cherry smell. One the first sip the cherries and coffee roll around your palate. This beer finishes as wonderful as it starts. This is one of my favorite stouts that I have ever had. Too bad they only have kegs and don’t bottle. If in the area, this beer is a must try for dark beer drinkers

This was a stout to remember with lots of roasted malted character coming through in both the flavour an aroma and sweet cherries complementing quite well. Drinks better than a 7.2% beer!

UPDATED: JUL 8, 2004 Black opaque with brown head and moderate lacing. The aroma is full of fresh sweet cherries and roast. God damn, they are everywhere! The flavor blends the initial sweet cherry smell into a transition to flavor. The roastiness sneaks in and talks for a while then the cherries come back and wish you luck. Finishes creamy, balanced, not too dry nor sweet. Wishes you on your journies quick but you’re not going to forget this one. This rivals New Glarus Belgian Red as king cherry beer. No tartness like in that example but pure cherry bliss here.
Sampled again via pint at the HorseBrass on 07/07/2004 and I'm still sold on my rating, this beer ROCKS! I love it!

Eclipse black color. Small head. Aroma is black cherries and sweet. Very intense aroma. A medium bodied stout. Malts are roasty with touches of chocolate, Very smooth. The cheery flavors complement the roastyness of the malts very well. Yet it is SO intensely cherry a little of this goes a LONG way. This is going to be one of those “love it or hate it” beers. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly smooth.

10oz pour @ Horse Brass. Pours black, with small tan head. Spotty lacing. Aroma is fantastic-- dark cherry and toasted malt. Flavor is the same-- not like couch syrup at all-- a nice subtle black cherry that hides behind a wall of smokiness. Espresso and cherry on the finish; moderate to low carbonation, long aftertaste. Reallllly good brew.
