UPDATED: APR 2, 2008 Draft at The Barking Dog. Pours a deep medium amber, clear, with gold highlights. Scant white head. Big piney nose. Big piney attack. Big piney mid-palate. Big piney finish. You starting to notice a pattern here? It’s a tour de force, or tour de hops, for sure. Tastes boozier than it is. Moderate body, low carb. Not particularly distinctive; billed by the pub as an IPA. Tastes like one--just not anywhere near the malt profile you’d expect from an ASA. Not that that’s bad at all, just sayin’--the brewery calls this something other than what at least one bar does, and it’s fairly easy to see how that happened. troopie (2323) - Munchen an der Willamette, Oregon, USA - OCT 12, 2006
Adding cask notes for 4-1-08, Park Pub. No foolin. This turns into a much more mellow grapefruit ride--still enormous bushels of that crisp and tartly bitter citric love, but everything else around it is softened and lovely. Great stuff.
Draught at ale house. Strong nose of fruit malt and hops. Beige head. Deep copper colour. Strongly hopped with full flavour, I tasted this all over my tongue. Hoppy finish like a kiss. This is a fine cool weather strong ale. alwayshalffull (3) - longview, Washington, USA - OCT 6, 2006 does not count

Had this taster at the 2006 OBF, Portland. Very dry, crisp, refreshing malt finish with a hop start. unique. nice balance. mreeves (276) - Sammamish, Washington, USA - AUG 6, 2006
Amberish color, lots of bubbles but not much head retention. Light, diacetyl and sort of "off" flavors. I’m not sure what this is supposed to be exactly, but I don’t like it.

UPDATED: JUL 21, 2007 First tasted summer ’06 with a 3.1 total score. Re-tasted at the brewpub in summer ’07. Beautiful bright copper colour. Citrusy, woody hops with slightly toasty malts. Deep, balanced earthiness. Woody, mossy, very grapefruity hop character. Toasty malts with a hint of chocolate. Lovely. Zinister (1423) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUL 9, 2006
Henry’s on 12th in Portland, Or. Medium amber color with thick white head. Great hop aroma and a nice malt backbone. Malt taste with a fold in of hops....very nice iPA. IndianaRed (4546) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JUL 6, 2006
On Tap at the brewpub. Medium light amber with a very large white head and nice thick lacing. Softer swet hop aroma than the IPA and a more overall balance in the flavor as well, with less of the late biting bitterness as well. Nice overall hefty brew. This is a great beer. A deep rich amber color with a good head. They took some time with this beer. Smooth with a great finish and a easy sweet flavor. The malt is stronger than hops which is what I like. Great Beer!!!

Amber coloured. IPA-like hop aroma. Had these beers with Poperinge and a couple we met on the golf course that afternoon. One of the better beers on tap.
