Had on draft at the brewpub. I enjoyed the citrusy hop profile, but the alcohol bite was a little strong..... couldíve been balanced a little better. Overall, an interesting concept and a drinkable beer.
bottle from brewery. Deep brown, near black with small head. Roasty malt body with cocoa and coffee. Big punchy hops with substantial bitterness. Slight booze. Very good stuff.

Draft sample at Walldorff's. Garnet with a light head. Malt and mild hop aromas. Lots of coffee and really smooth. blackflag321 (689) - Lansing, Michigan, USA - MAR 22, 2014
Draft at brewpub. Dark brown-black, big foamy head. Roast coffee aroma. Roast malt taste. Medium body. Smoother than other black IPAs I have tried. BrownALEx (457) - Portland, Michigan, USA - DEC 23, 2013
Roasty and bitter, this is a top notch beer. Perfectly blends a dark beer and a bitter beer. Very, very good. Must try. Hats off to the brewer. JulienHuxley (5792) - Trois-RiviŤres, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 5, 2013
Bottle. Dark brown black pour with very thin off white head. Aroma of light chocolaty notes, roasty malts, subdued hops, light caramel aromas. Flavor is bitter, reminding one of hops once past, nice sweetness. Palate has low carbonation, medium body, slightly boozy finish. Meh.

Dark brown pour. Nice brew! Roasted malt, some good hop notes, chocolate hints. Enjoyable. fattybladdy (628) - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA - FEB 24, 2013
On draft @ the brewpub. Solid dark brown in color. Taste is roasted chocolate malts, well balanced with piney hops and bitter finish. Pretty good. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 18, 2012
Bottled. Poured deep brown with a short-lived beige head. The aroma picked up toasted black and lesser cocoa malts topped by fresh, mostly pine resiny hoppage.. good balance between the roast and the hops. The flavor found near-burnt black malts and a kiss of licorice at the core.. bitter pine and some malty tardiness around.. finished with bitter roast and pine. Medium-bodied at most on the palate.. quite bitter overall.. engaging on the palate. crossovert (12641) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 2, 2012
A hoppy black ipa, definitely some spice, herbal, and pine notes to go with dark and roasty malts. 10+ ibus. alexsdad06 (10268) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 1, 2012
Sample at DLD. Pours a dark brown color with a small beige head. The aroma has a decent blend of roasted malts and green hops. The flavor matches the nose; roasted malts, green hops that favor citrus and resin. good mouth feel.
