3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Walldorff. Deep red-brown body, thin tight tan head. Aroma of brown sugar and chocolate, toast, with hints of dark fruits, particularly grape. Toasty body with hints of chocolate, licorice, and grassy hops. Dark fruits (mostly red grapes) provide sweetness that plays off the toast flavors. Becomes almost medicinal over time, reminding me a bit of Dimetapp (but never offensive). Medium-bodied, crisp, with good complexity. My favorite Walldorff beer to date.
