Excellent Vienna style lager. Malty caramel and juicy hop notes. Nice clean finish. bozoNZ (778) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - MAR 28, 2007
330ml bottle from New World. Darker than I expected for a ’Gold’ name. Nice firm but thin creamy head all thru the glass. Faint fruity aroma. Wonderful construction. Complex fullness in the malts, creamy texture to give it some body and some nice hop finishing. I like this. Was close to it’s b/b date. Perhaps this is better matured than fresh? Would be interesting to sample a fresh comparison. yalnikim (800) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - DEC 20, 2005
Tasted 20/12/2005. 330ml bottle from New World Metro, at JT’s.
Copper, diminishing off-white head, medium carbonation, slightly appley aroma, some toasty malt noted too, little in the way of hops, short finish.
The only thing "wrong" with this beer is that it’s a bit too strong, at 4.8%, to be the standard quaffer that I assume it is intended as. It’s the standard, mild, kiwi-brown lager, which is definitely not my thing (but it is done better than most). DuffMan (10436) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 29, 2005
The beer highlight of my recent New Zealand trip was finding the microbrews from Wanaka Beerworks. All are terrific. This one pours a clear dark amber. Hoppy nose with an excellent fruity-hopped palate on a solid malt base. Excellent. JoeMcPhee (9427) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 2, 2005
330 ml bottle BB 30/08/05. Pale copper colour, slightly malty aroma as well. Light apple fruitiness. Flavour is bready and toasty. A touch of fruitiness and some mild spicy hops. A bit underdone compared to the other two beers I had from this brewery.

a strange combination of porridge, musk lifesavers and mango juice. quite sweet with a fruity finish. weird but not bad eczematic (1325) - Adelaide, AUSTRALIA - JAN 6, 2004
strangely thick, yeasty and creamy for a lager. tastes of grainy creamed honey, cold porridge, nut nougat, stewed apricot. bizarre but i didnt mind it that much. beerledgend (1196) - Waterloo, Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - DEC 21, 2003
Dark amber colour, small white head, strong malty nose. Bold malty tatste with strong bitter after taste. Hildigöltur (5104) - København, DENMARK - JUL 31, 2003
Not as good as their Brewski. This is much more malty and bready. It has not nearly as much hops and is sweeter. Kaya161 (1139) - San Diego, California, USA - MAR 17, 2002
Golden-orange colour, thin white head. Reminds me of a continental lager, such as Becks. Malt nose fairly sweet flavour. Caramel malt flavours. Dryish finish. Overall, a clean, easy to drink beer.
