Bottle. The toasted malt flavour was very enjoyable, with coffee and a little bit of chocolate. The hop presense is subtle. I like. NoiZe (2323) - Zeist, NETHERLANDS - JAN 16, 2008
I’ve had this one in New Zealand on my honeymoon. Visited the brewery too.

Had this one from tap from the brewery pub. Dark colored, coffee flavored brew. Roasted malts.
I tried all 3 beers on tap at the Wanaka Beerworks micro-brewery. Tall Black poured beautifully. A rich malty, sweet beer, full-bodied, flavours of chocolate, coffee, slightly smokey. Appearance is a red ruby hue. Smooth on the palate. bozoNZ (778) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 11, 2007
330ml bottle b/b 30Dec07. Dark with reddish colours, mellow coffee, caramel & molasses nose. Coffee coloured head but doesn’t stay for long. Smooth sweet dark roast malty, a touch sweet but overall quite nice. brownporter (10) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - APR 23, 2007
Bottle. Pours an almost opaque deep red. Mild malt/chocolate bitterness aroma. Light malt sweetness balanced by roasted bitterness, medium bodied and oily feel (leaves an oily finish). Little to no hop presence. More a porter than a brown ale?

Ruby red in color. Mild aroma of roast malt, chocolate, toffee. Gente balance of caramel and roast flavors with little hop presence and a smooth finish. Slightly sweet. beerledgend (1196) - Waterloo, Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - NOV 2, 2006
Dark black in colour with toffee colour head. Nice herbahious coffee aroma. Thin oily mouthfeel. Mild coffee flavour. Probaly enjoyed best in the cold clims of the central Otago region!!! omhper (25349) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - FEB 9, 2006
Bottled. Dark brown, full creamy head. Coffee aroma. Medium sweet and medium bodied with pleasantly soft mouthfeel. There’s lots of roasty malt flavour and some more unexpected blueberries. Velvetty finish with fairly low bitterness. yalnikim (800) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - DEC 20, 2005
Tasted 20/12/2005. 330ml bottle from New World Thorndon, at JT’s.
Deep dark ruby, disappearing tan head. The nose is coffee, toasty, ash (JT picked this one). Caramel sweetness, up front, with a toasty dryness through the middle and a long, tingley, hop finish. A bit light and slightly over-carbonated for me, in the typical way of antipodean porters/stouts. Certainly drinkable though.

The beer highlight of my recent New Zealand trip was finding the microbrews from Wanaka Beerworks. All are terrific. This one pours a dark brown. Roasted malt with a sweet chocolaty, toasty, caramel palate. Delicious.
