Had on cask at Mahar’s in Albany, NY, Wandering Star’s USSR is a somewhat lacking on the "rye" portion, but it is nonetheless a decent sessionable beer. Grains and malt play with the rye in the presence of a sweet taste I couldn’t quite put my finger on, but I suspect that it was something to do with the "summer" portion of this beer. I wouldn’t go out of my way to get one, but I drank the one I had with no complaints. DrinkEmUpJones (1069) - Georgia, USA - OCT 10, 2012
Pours clear red amber. Mild stone and mineral aromas. Palate is session able and nicely balanced with a definite rye note at the end. Very tasty! BrewBoxer (2664) - New York, New York, USA - AUG 21, 2012
Draft. Bright reddish amber color. Small head. Scent is pretty not present. Taste is watery and not flavorful. I see how they say its a summer session beer, but there are better options CamdenD (1204) - Madrid, SPAIN - AUG 20, 2012
A nice interpretation of an interesting style. The rye is certainly present, moreso than in many ’rye ipas’ from other breweries, but the taste lacks much else. Drinkable, but not terribly. An interesting attempt. blipp (9691) - La Mesa, California, USA - JUL 22, 2012
Cask. Pours amber with a thin head. Relatively bland, with light grains, floral hops, and a hint of rye malts. Clean and nondescript.
