COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
’Zingari’ is Italian for gypsies, and this name perfectly captures Wandering Star’s take on the Belgian Wit style. Brewed with 50% six-row barley and 50% malted and unmalted wheat, the beer is subtly spiced with lemongrass, cardamom, fenugreek, and coriander. The result is a refreshing 5% ABV beer with a zingy citrus zest. RECOMMENDED FOOD PAIRINGS: Asian dishes, seafood, salads, berries-and-cream desserts such as strawberry shortcake, milk or white chocolate.

Bottle in NYC. Pours a slightly hazy, dull yellow with a small, white foam head. Aroma is lovely, all fresh lemongrass and coriander. Medium sweet flavor with tasty, doughy malts, lemon, yeast, dough, some very mild herbal bitterness, touches of lime and orange. Light bodied with massaging carbonation. Sweet crisp finish, all doughy malts, lemon grass, mild bitterness, juicy lemon citrus. Easily one of the best witbiers I can remember drinking.

Sample at Rattle N Hum. The beer pours a hazy golden color with a medium white head that burns away steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of wheat, spices and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of citrus, spiced wheat and mild grassy hops. The finish is sweet with a lemony and spicy aftertaste. Decent overall.

On tap at Beer Authority. Pours a faintly hazed gold with a medium to large creamy white head. Lemon and coriander on the nose, some gentle musk. Medium bodied, lemony sweetness, soft musk, wheat, light ginger and almost coriander. Yeast, a touch of sweetness on the finish. Easy drinking, almost shandy like lemon notes.

2011-12-03. Hazy pastel yellow, small white head. Mild wheaty aroma, light lemon touches. 6+ Wheaty aroma with a funny character to it, sweet lemon and a candyish touch. 6+ Average bodied palate. Decent, mostly enjoyable but didn’t do much for me today though. Tap at Goodbar, Buffalo

[4178-20111203] Tap. Orange citrus clove aroma has.a bit of a soapy lemon cleaner note to it. Hazy, pale yellow brown body with a quick foamy white head. Orange lemon cleaner continues in the flavour with a lingering tartness. Medium body. Interesting. (6/3/7/3/13) 3.2

Draft. Pours hazy yellow with a white head. Light wheaty aroma with lemony and spicy notes. The flavor is on the bland side, with a wheaty base, light spice, and light lemon. Not bad.

I think it’s an understatement to call this "subtly spiced." I’d choose the adjective "aggressive" instead. Lemongrass and coriander especially. Too much to make this sessionable. Tried in NYC in 2013.

Jow (4082) - Orlando, Florida, USA - OCT 9, 2013
Tap at the Stags Head. Pours light hazy yellow with white head. Nose of citrus and wheat. tastes of wheat, lemony, cloves, banana, and a little All Purpose cleaning spray. light palate
