MelvinKalksma (1630) - NETHERLANDS - JUN 11, 2017

Aroma:
Medium/heavy aroma of malts, caramel, vanilla, chocolate, mocha and roasted malts.

Appearance:
Opaque black beer with slight yeast and with a medium/large brown head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts heavy sweet with malts, caramel, vanilla, chocolate and mocha; ends slightly bitter and dry with roasted malts.

Overall:
This beer is intense, complex and balanced. Insanely sweet holy shit, not even benefiting it anymore at the end. Finish could have used some more roast, some coffee even. Perfect appearance and a great palate as well.

Bottle, 75cl. A dark brown beer, close to black in colour, topped by a dense beige head. Some lacing. The aroma is rather chocolatey, with toffee, roasted malts, coffee and a pleasant spiced, dried fruit touch and a good dash of dark sugars. It’s warming, full bodied and smoothly carbonated, with a nice carbonation. Coffee, toffee,, some chocolate, dried fruits and dark sugars in the flavor. Lasting sweet and roasted finish. Sure a fine one, but it’s a fine one indeed. 161231

Bottle from Warpigs, Copenhagen. Poured a clear medium reddish brown with a thin whispy light tan head. The aroma is sweet sugary roasted malt, dark chocolate coffee. The flavour is moderate to strong sweet with a rich oily roast fruity alcoholic palate. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.
