(bottle) Deep-medium brown with good off-white head. Mild aromas. Very little malt aroma. Mild malt flavors. A bit thin in body. Hoss (607) - Florida, USA - DEC 14, 2003
No strong flavors other than a metalic one. A very mainstream brew with no distinguishing qualities sethdude (706) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - DEC 11, 2003
POured a rootbeer color, little color. ALmost no head,. Aroma is slightly skunked, floral. Flavor is very watery, not living up to the dark color of this one. Wouldn't recommend it. Reid (2541) - Salem, Oregon, USA - NOV 30, 2003
On tap at Gustav's Restaurant, Clackamas, Oregon.
Beer looks like a glass of black coffee with a tan head..by "black coffee" i dont really mean completely black..but a mahogany brown colour.
Smell was quite subdued..slight chocolaty style malts but not much.
Very thin and watery tatslessness..poor carbonation..flat horrid.
Thin and wat too watery on the tongue.
Not very drinkable at all..i wonder if there was some problem with the keg?

Average beer. Quick diminishing head, leaving very little lace. Dark amber/ caramel tone. First sips were the best, dimishing to a watery taste (despite the color). Ehh.

Dark cola color to this no headed beer. Smells like water and malt. This really isn't a very good beer. The taste is slightly bitter and hardly that, caramel, water. Not a great dark beer at all. If Warsteiner is the Bud Light of Germany, the Dunkel must be the Amber Bock. Unimpressive beer to say the least. Germany has so much more to offer. Wow, tangy (sarcasm). Dark caramel color with a creamy head formation and a malty aroma. The taste is slightly nutty, with hints of caramel, a touch of chocolate, and fresh malts. Nicely balanced finish with a subtle touch of hops.

Subtle sweetness in the aroma and carries through this brew. Finishes to the sweet side. The verdict is still out on this one. Veldy (65) - Coon Rapids, Minnesota, USA - NOV 3, 2003
I had this on tap from Old Chicago over the Oktoberfest celebration. I was quite impressed with this beer. Although not "quite" as malty as I expected, it was very good. The malt was balanced nicely by the hop bitterness, with little hop aroma. The body was just a little bit light. Overall, a very drinkable beer. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - OCT 31, 2003
Small beige head atop clear mahogany body. Aroma is sweet, nutty, and caramel. Taste is caramel, nutty, mediuim sweet. Medium body.
