Tastes as if they added dark food coloring to the regular Warsteiner. Roasted notes are very light in this beer, and altogether simply tastes like the Warsteiner Premium Verum. Low bitterness in the finish. Easy to drink, but a bit watery.

Had to pour into a different glass to get a good off-white head of foam going. Quickly dissipates. Body is dark brown and clear. Aroma is extremely light. Smells a little like pears and a little less like malt. Very tiny bubbles of carbonation add some to the mouthfeel, but that's all there is. Tastes watery, more sweet than bitter. Leaves a clean after taste, but doesn't encourage me to have another. Next?

Bottle. Nice dark brown with tan head. Sweet malty aroma. The taste didn't quite live up to the appearance and arome for me. It was a bit watery and didn't have all that much flavor. It was ok I guess, but certainly not outstanding in any way.

Draft: Pours a rich dark brown with a thin tan head. Musty hop and earthy malt aroma. Body starts with some grainy off-flavors and finishes with a more authentic German flavor and some sweet, almost floral European hops. This could definitely use some more balance and fresher ingredients.

Good aroma. Full bodied. Medium brown (deep) with adequate foam. Slightly sweet taste. Foam dissipates quickly.

Not good, but not too bad. Won't have this one again. A little sour and very thin body.

2.2
MartinT (10155) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 30, 2003
Listless roastiness amongst restless veggies...Pumpernickel crumbs drowning in weak, watery fizz...Campfire embers several days after being doused by heavy rains...

kwoeltje (2234) - Manchester, Missouri, USA - DEC 21, 2003
(bottle) Deep-medium brown with good off-white head. Mild aromas. Very little malt aroma. Mild malt flavors. A bit thin in body.

2.5

No strong flavors other than a metalic one. A very mainstream brew with no distinguishing qualities

POured a rootbeer color, little color. ALmost no head,. Aroma is slightly skunked, floral. Flavor is very watery, not living up to the dark color of this one. Wouldn't recommend it.
