3.5
SDbruboy (1864) - San Diego, California, USA - JUL 3, 2003
6/21/03, draft, Berlin. Thick, dark brown brew with a large, creamy, tan head. Nice lacing. Aroma of peat, smoked malts, hops and brown bread. Flavor is rich roasted malts, earth, assertive hops and an astringent finish. Full bodied with an immediate mouthburst of carbonation.

2.7
BeerLimey (2154) - California, USA - JUN 23, 2003
Light in body and flavor. Sweet, nutty, toasty, light caramel malts. Even though I'm not a dunkel fan this is someway below my favorite dunkel.

3.2
Holdwine (1232) - Beertimore, Maryland, USA - JUN 22, 2003
On draft. Nice and edgy for a dunkel. Stands up well to a plate of wurst. Mahogany red in color. Very fruity in nose and flavor.

3.3
GreatSatanUSA (107) - Austin, Texas, USA - JUN 22, 2003
Dark, malty, the hops and nose taste had hints of a pils (what some might call skunky, but it definitely wasn't in this beer.) A pretty good brew, plain but very drinkable.

kumite56 (473) - Cordova, Tennessee, USA - JUN 21, 2003
Deep mahogony color and clear with a tan rapidly diminishing head. Hint of hopps in nose but primarily malty. Tast is malty. Medium bodied with a refreshing taste. Not a bad beer and to make it that much better I got it for Father's Day. Decent summertime brew, possible repurchase.

3.1
fraternie (1011) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 21, 2003
Thin, dark body, little head. Aroma is fruity and sweet--grapes and plums. Malt body starts sweet, a touch sugary with very light notes of caramel. Finishes lightly bitter. A bit thin and bland overall but has some character.

3.2
Aubrey (3516) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - JUN 5, 2003
Dark brown and clear. Not the strongest head. A little watery at first, but carbonation and texture seemed to improve as I drank. Interesting aroma. Nice and roasty with sweet black licorice notes. Surprisingly refreshing and clean and rather easy to drink.

3.2
PorterPounder (7968) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAY 25, 2003
UPDATED: SEP 28, 2009 Rerate Cola brown appearance, slight off-white head. slight caramel aroma and matching taste. Smooth mouthfeel, decent. Original 3.5 Had this on draft at the Mellow Mushroom in Chattanooga. Has a pleasant malty aroma - ruby red dark appearance. Good malty flavor. Stays strong to the finish - has a good thick mouthfeel to it.

2.7
Kinz (3786) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - MAY 23, 2003
The beer looks better than it tastes. Beautiful clear chestnut brown. Small but persistent off-white head. Smells like caramel, with a hint of chocolate and a tang I can't quite place. Unremarkable mouthfeel. The taste is surprisingly bland, a faint bitterness from the roasted barley, quickly overcome by sweetness. Not as good as the Verum.

3.2
Shag (3001) - Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA - MAY 23, 2003
UPDATED: JUN 1, 2004 Appearance is a darkish/red. Flavor is clean with a slight sourness and a distinctive yeastiness. Some bitterness but not very full bodied. This is not bad for a mass produced European beer.
