500 ml can from Dunmore Liquor, served in a curved pint. Pours a reddish-cola shade with generous, fine, slow carbonation and a tan head that retreats to just a thin cap, leaving islands of lace. Aroma is primarily brown sugar-sweetened toasty malt with a buttery, cinnamony hint, fragrant red berries, and a faint herbal hop. Flavor-wise, the toasted malt surges forth, leaving the caramel sweetness in its wake, and hints of coffee, cocoa, charcoal, and smoke follow as the sip ends. The herbal hop hides among the roasted elements. Medium body, with a brief, pleasant lingering of the toastiness. Pretty decent. Has a nice toast malt aroma. Taste is a nice chocolate and roasted malt, good body, easy drinking.

Draft at Bru Craft. Clear very dark copper brown pour with a quickly diminishing foamy head. Aroma somewhat muted when cold but tastes like a (albeit a bit too shallow) proper German Dunkel. Gently dark toasted pale malts. Notes of bramble berry, sweet breads, liquorice, liver, pumpernickel, black plums, olives, ouzo, smoked meat. Great notes but none is strong enough to feel over the top. Not the best Dunkel but a truly great Dunkel.

On tap, poured a clear brown hue w/ small diminishing head. Moderate roasty coffee aroma. Initial flavor is light sweet w/ a light to moderate bitter finish. Tastes are almond skins, medium roast breakfast blend coffee, hazelnut and light brown sugar notes.

Pours a clear reddish brown tea colored with a thin white ring. Slightly oily texture with clingy lacing. Nice strong aroma of sweet barley malts. (333ml bottle, Beijing) Aroma: Nice nose of coffee, malt, wood. Appearance: rich brown color, off-white thick head. Taste: Coffee, grass, herbs, a bit medicinal, barrel, roasted, burnt. Palate: Quite sparkly on the tongue, crisp, tight, dry, lingering bitterness on the cheeks. Overall: Interesting beer with a decent amount of flavor and character. Not as malty as some of the heavy duty Dunkels, but that is almost a good thing. Quite roasty tasting.
