UPDATED: APR 29, 2007 Iíve had this one both on tap and bottled, both in Germany and in the U.S. It tasted pretty much the same each time. It doesnít have much aroma; there is a nice crisp bitterness to it though. It is pretty smooth, but a bit thin. There is less complexity to the malt than I like out of a Pilsener. In spite of not being the best, it is widely available and is noticeably better than Becks, although noticeably worse than Bitburger or a number of other slightly harder-to-obtain German brews.

Bottle poured golden yellow with a decent head, no carbonation. Grassy aroma like a malt liquer. Flavor was like colt 45 just not as bad. Watery body.

From Germany via Argentina! Great looking beer - amazing clarity with pretty decent head retention. Doesnít smell as good as it tastes, but thereís some nice decocted malt and a very mild dried oregano hop character but itís spoilt a bit by a fair bit of pineapple and a tiny bit of yeastiness. Very nice, tight malt character, with a LONG hop flavour (I always struggle to describe the flavour of German hops, but it tastes very German - bordering on minty but not quite) and a tiny bit of prawn shell saltiness. Simple but really good. Considering the number of shortcuts this brewery takes, the fact that this beer is so good is really an indictment on every other big brewer (and a few small ones too).

UPDATED: MAR 3, 2005 This was appropriately described to me as the German equivalent to Budweiser. Rocky white head that dissappeared like my dog when she heard the word "bath":...Had an icky rotten veggie aroma....thankfully it tasted much better than it smelled. I donít think Iíd buy it.

Not the favorite pils kinda guy, but when comparred with other mass produced German pils it is very good. A good balance of hop dryness and maltyness that goes down pretty easy. Good beer in general.

UPDATED: DEC 11, 2006 This beer has chemical and skunky undertones and is weak on flavor. And the flavor that it has is sour. Probably the worst German beer I have ever had. Its the Coors Light of Germany. Leave this one on the shelf or use it as a paper weight.

DeepBlack (386) - Derby, Derbyshire, ENGLAND - DEC 30, 2004
In a bottle from a "Lagers of Europe" Christmas Present. Pale golden yellow colour. Quite a "fresh" taste, slight bitterness. Not bad as Lagers go.

MilkmanDan (1943) - Eagan, Minnesota, USA - DEC 29, 2004
Light gold with nothing even vaguely resembling a head. Nose hoppy, grassy, and somewhat skunked. Flavor is very citric, marginally sweet, and a bit hoppy, but the unpleasant skunkiness pops up again.
