Bottle from Sun Devil in Mesa, AZ. Pours cola color with a tan head. Has that brown roasted malt aroma. Near medium body with frothy carbonation. First hit is coarse chocolate. Chocolate really dominates this one. Malt is hardly noticeable until the finish. There’s some hop spice too. You could sell this as a Xmas ale.

"a nice brown ale. kinda light for a winter warmer, but the smooth roasted malty, nutty flavor is pretty pleasant. a touch of hops in the aroma, a bit of caramel and chocolate. not anything new for a brown, but done well."

Sampled from the tap at Squatters airport location. Pours a clear earthy amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of bread and grain with a touch of nuttiness supporting. Flavor has notes of sweet grain its w bread backbone and a hint of nuttiness.

daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - MAY 5, 2010
Brown pour with a medium off white head. Strong honey notes, buckwheat pancakes and freshly made waffles. Flavor is heavy on the waffle notes. Wheres the maple syrup! I actually like the waffle/pancake notes here.

douglas88 (9188) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 20, 2008
Bottle. Pours a light brown with a nice light beige head. The aroma is really light; some spices, nutmeg and gingerbread cookies. The taste is simple and smooth; some spices, nuts, caramel and a dry finish. Decent. Of course the ABV is low, and needs more fullness. But drinkable.

3.5
Ibrew2or3 (8614) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - NOV 1, 2011
12oz bottle pours a nice clear brown with copper hues and tan head. The aroma offers up a bit of esters and then some dusty nuttiness, nut shells, earthy malts and some roasted malts. The taste has a nice rich mix of roasted malts, nuttiness and a bit of earthy malts. It then picks up a brief poke of esteriness before it gets a dryer sensation with some astringent roasted malts. Interesting brown.
