A Dull brown color with constant carbonation bubbles. Minimal head with lacing. Very sweet

Bottle from a trade. Nose is hugely malt forward with a strong dusty, Munich malt presence. Minimal head, dies quickly. Some signs of alcohol legs on the glass. Taste is similar but lacks the chewiness in the mouthfeel that I was hoping for. A light alcohol warming in the ears. Overall, decent, but flavor falls short for a doppelbock.

Dark brown with red hues. Nose toasted malt, caramel, light coffee, dark fruit and a little booze. Flavor is toasty malt and light roast with dark cherry, faint raisin, and some candy. A bit sweet, but not terrible. Noticeable alcohol. Solid.

12 oz. bottle. Pours was mahogany/brown with tan head that diminished quickly. Aroma was sweet roasty malts, oak and nuts. Taste was sweet and malty. 10 of clubs.

I didn't take any extra notes when I tried this beer for the first time but I'm gonna try it again and update my comments. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Medium, clear brown with a fairly thin cream-colored head. Nutty, toasted malt aroma. Flavor is also nutty, sweet. Smooth despite the strong alcohol content. Nice.

Very good doppel. It was nice to have a higher alcohol beer after soo many 4% so that may have influenced the rating.

"If you’re going to sin, sin big... Imagine that - a cult following in Utah?!" You’ve got to hand it to Wasatch. This is a brewery that knows how to have fun with its product labeling. Likewise, the beer itself is no slouch when it comes to bringing the fun factor. Body pours brown-red with a rocky tan head. Aroma propels rich grains and toasted malt. Flavor has caramel, chocolate, and cream. No, it’s not the most complex brew, but it’s easy to drink and the 8% ABV offers some nice warmth. Another good ’un from the irreverent minds at Wasatch.

Bottle. Mostly clear burgundy hue with a big, frothy tan cap. The aroma: raisins, toast, sourdough, wet grain, red grape. Kind of a weird funk to it. The flavor loses most of the mustiness, replacing it with raisin, brandy and fig up front with toasted biscuits in the back. Lingering roasted malt bitterness. Slick medium-light body with mild carbonation and no trace of the fairly high ABV. A little grainy overall; not a favorite.

appearance: deep, clear dark amber, with half a finger of foamy light tan head that quickly fades to a bubbly collar. aroma: not a hugely strong nose, but there’s elements of toffee and brown sugar, there’s some raisin and a hint of black jelly bean, root beer, and brown bread. taste: big sweet malt bomb; lots of toffee and brown sugar, a dose of root beer and cola, with a hint of leather. notes: malty sweetness lingers, with a bit of rooty molasses the most prominent flavor. notes: This is actually a darn good doppel. Nice sweet malty flavors, but the palate wasn’t overly thick. It wasn’t thin, either, just the right level to handle all that malty sweetness without feeling too heavy. Alcohol is well-hidden. 12 ounce can as a souvenir from Squatters Brewpub in Salt Lake City, Utah.
