Oh what a silky smooth double bock; worthy of induction into the AW BHoF! This brew poured up a rich mahogany-colored body with a one-finger off-white bubbly head that dissipated quickly but left amazing lacing effects on the glass. Aromas caramel, toasted malts, warm biscuits (Hungry Jack style), cocoa powder (like Nestles Quik) and a light hint of espresso. Flavors of the same but oh so wonderfully balanced. Medium-bodied, lightly carbonated, and goes down real smooth with no bitter aftertastes. Easy to drink so keep an eye on how many you have had!

12oz bottle from Gription79. Pours dark hazy brown with light tan head. Aromas of caramel, dark malts, and some yeast. Flavors of chocolate, dark bready malts, caramel, and some brown sugar. Nice dopplebock overall.

The beer pours a brown color with a large, off-white head. The aroma is very malt as is expected. I get some toffee and bread notes, as well as some vinous notes. The flavor is more of the same. I get a lot of toffee and a little bread, as well as some grape-like fruit notes that mix very well with the malt. The alcohol is detectable but not overwhelming. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A nice doppelbock.

I thought Id never get my Utah rating... Really nice dark ruby brown color and a creamy looking head. Very tasty sweet toasty malt and dried fruit. Kinda like eating toasted raisin bread that is on the verge of burning but not quite. Aroma of some spice, cinnamon & clove along wit really nice sweet roasted malt. Overall, its a pleasure to drink. Ill be buying more!

12 oz bottle. Born on: 03/24/11. It pours a lighter reddish brown with a foamy off-white head that quickly dissipates with no lacing. Smell is weaker and more like a brown ale than a doppelbock. The flavor is also more reminiscent of an ale than a lager. It is roasty and chocolatey, far too much to be considered a doppebock. It is an okay american dark lager.

Bottle from Gription79...thanks Dallas! - A big, foamy light tan head sits atop a dark amber body. Nice. Big, dark bread malts have a milky, lightly soured quality to them. Hops are but a rumor. The taste is malty smoothness, with pumpernickel bread, cocoa, and a hint of whiskey on the finish. Velvet smoothness with a fluffy thickness. Double points for the big horn sheep on the label beating the shit out of the Mormon temple and the Utah capitol, all while being engulfed in flames.

12 ounce thanks to Gription79. Dark body. Big roast and chocolate taste. Medium body for the taste. Very decent.

Crylthxa, Eater of Planets, whom the ancient Algonquian indians native to north America once called Tinehboktotep (loosely translated as "The Devastator"), slumbers in a realm beyond the stars, to awaken once every thousand millennia and wreak his havoc upon the universe. But chosen shamans who are sufficiently adroit in the scrying arts can hear his call in their dreams: BOW DOWN BEFORE MY HUNDRED MILE TALL DOUBLE MALTY GREATNESS, PUNY MORTAL. YOU ARE BUT PATHETIC ANTS TO THE GREAT UNHOPPED ONE. A bit cloying on the finish, though.

Pours clear mahogany with orange highlights and a small off white head. Aroma of butterscotch, caramel, sweet potatoes, golden raisins and Christmas bread. Flavor begins kinda toasty, but then the sweet caramel, raisin and toffee flavors come out. Finishes sweet, transitioning to a mild earthiness. Medium full bodied, slick texture with ample carbonation that doesnt really aid to the beers creaminess. Decent beer, nothing mind blowing, but its a worthwhile sixpack to try.

12oz bottle, from my wonderful family during a recent road-trip of theirs. Wonderful, clear red/amber color, with some fine floating sediment visible. Very minimal head, yet it leaves a few dots of lacing. Creamy, caramel, mild licorice, dark fruit, some chocolate, alcohol notes. Classic doppelbock aroma, a style I appreciate so much that it is probably in my top 3 (alongside the Black IPA and IIPA, perhaps). Palate has a bit of an acidic texture to it, and the carbonation seems a tiny bit too harsh, but the aftertaste is sublime. I like these brews. Its difficult to disappoint me with a doppelbock, this brew is no exception. A satisfactory execution of the style.
