Clear amber body topped by a white head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is medium sweet, caramel, chocolate, light herbal/grapefruit. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, some caramel, grapefruit. Light-medium body, light stickiness. tiggmtl (4544) - East York, Ontario, CANADA - APR 2, 2005
Strong floral and earthy hop nose. Clear brown-amber with a decent white head that lasts nicely and laces well. Fair bitterness with decent supporting crystal malt sweetness and perhaps a hint of roastiness. Medium-light body with fairly low carbonation. Sampled at the brewpub with MartinT, muzzlehatch and Rastacouere. muzzlehatch (4970) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - APR 1, 2005
New England Road Trip Easter ’05 with MartinT, tiggmtl and Rastacouere, beer #50. Sample at the brewpub. Dark clear brass top by a big head and thick lacing...pungent honeysuckle/lilac and piney hops lick the nose...watery texture, good level of carbonation, nice bitterness throughout, sour orange detectable. MartinT (10037) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 29, 2005
Grapefruity, citrusy hops profit from the decent malting which provides a full-bodied yet quenching body...Simple toffee and earth evolve with the lingering hoppiness into a well-balanced finish...Shiny and flavorful...

Superb off-white lacing. Big bubbles, a beautiful dark amber. Nice looks. Nicely fresh cut C-hops nose, sweaty and citrusy, dry and leathery. Feels stronger than it is. This is pretty tasty. Lots of well dried fruitiness, citrus and nut oil flavours. The balance is fine. A negative point might be the wateriness of the texture, yet it’s medium bodied and rather crisp. Draft at the brewery: poured amber with a medium beige head. Earthy hop aroma. Slight sweetness in the flavor, almost maple-y. Moderate hops. Decent. ClarkVV (6839) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - FEB 14, 2005
Handpump February 2005. Wonderful pour, beige, light orange and golden hues all swirl about as the beer settles. Large, creamy bright white head. Aroma of fruity, leafy, fuzzy hops, juicy and not overly bitter or dry. Flavor begins with light caramel and citrus, with plenty of hops flavor. Light honey on the finish, but little to no yeast character in the beer. Gets a bit too thin on the finish, and it just becomes hops and creamy nothingness. Not bad, but could use more malt depth, less hops. Medium-light bodied, low carbonation. dirtymike (2016) - Manchester, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 29, 2003
Amber in color with a small white head.Touch of sweetness, followed by malt character, finishing into a refeshing hoppiness. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - OCT 27, 2003
Clear golden with a puffy white lacing head. Very mild lightly hoppy aroma. Body is semi-sweet and bitter, but lacks balance. Overall pretty bland for a pale ale, but drinkable and doesn't have any bad off-flavors.
