In short: A medium-hoppy dark ale with succulent malts.Lubiere (14151) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 18, 2013
How: From a bottle at Montreal Mondial 2013.
The look: Very dark mahogany body topped by a small beige head.
In long: Nose is only moderately hoppy (tobacco-leafy, citrusy) with some toastiness. Taste has a nice toasted fudgy-chocolaty malt backbone that pretty much steals the spotlight from the hops. A mild bitterness that barely opposes the fudge malts. A fun beer, this is a Black IPA that I appreciated for its malt bill. And speaking of roller coaster, I find that trying craft beers at a beer festival is like a lot like a long ride of roller coaster, so many great beers and so many bad beers and after a while I needed to throw up.
A dark brown IPA with a thin creamy brown head. In aroma, sweet dark fruits over floral hops, smooth and balanced. in mouth, a smooth chocolate malt with grassy hops, resinous character, well made. Bottle at Mondial, May 31, 2013. jercraigs (10886) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 5, 2013
2013-05-30. Very dark brown black body, modest tan head. 3++ Aroma is sort of leafy green hops, light peppery touches. Flavour is similar, leafy green hops, earthy malt notes, lightly herbal undertones. Average bodied palate, modest carbonation. 3+ Decent, bit muddled overall but enjoyable. Bottle at Mondial de la Biere 2013, Montreal

Drank from a bottle at the 20th Mondial de la Bière, June 1, 2013. Very dark brown, thin head. Nuts hoppy aroma, notes of Belgian yeast. Taste of hops barley, a little spicy and very dry, bitterness of scented herbs. It does not look like anything of a black IPA or a Belgian IPA, but it is done well! Sevenlee (1846) - Central Coast, NSW, AUSTRALIA - JAN 30, 2013
Pours totally black with a tall frothy light brown head. Aroma is malt, citrus, fruit, chocolate, toasted and floral notes and hops. Taste is light to medium sweet of fruit and citrus leading to a medium bitter; and toasty and hoppy finish. I guess I was hoping for a bit more body but it’s still very good. vodo (829) - São Paulo, BRAZIL - JAN 3, 2013
Mistura interessante dos ésteres frutados do fermento belga e açucares adicionados com um dose um pouco maior de lúpulos americanos. danielyabu (1708) - União da Vitória, BRAZIL - DEC 22, 2012
