COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Using our signature berliner weisse base of core range favourite sourpuss, this light, tart wheat beer instead gets it’s flavour from the tropical passionfruit. The addition of yuzu juice brings a distinctive acidity & freshness.
From Craftypint.com:
Back in May 2017, Wayward’s Sourpuss Raspberry Berliner Weisse won the trophy for Best European Style Ale at the Australian International Beer Awards. Shortly afterwards, presumably to celebrate the win, they held an event at their brewery called Festival Of The Puss at which they tapped the champion beer alongside seven cousins, all small batches made with the same base beer but infused with something different, from cucumber to fig to blood orange. The one that was deemed to have the most potential at a commercial scale was one made with passionfruit and the Japanese citrus fruit yuzu - called Passion Of The Puss.

Bottle - pours gold with a white head. Aroma is light passionfruit, tart and grain malt. Taste is mild tart with a passionfruit seed finish. Currently 46 degrees here and the perfect foil!

Nice fresh cut Passionfruit on the nose, palate very refreshing but really quite tart. Quite hazy in appearance and slightly more carbonated than I'd expect but not a bad drop for a summers day.

Tap at the Catfish, Melbourne. Poured a hazy straw colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is malt, dough, biscuit, tart citrus. The flavour is moderate sour with a fresh crisp, light, tart lemon citrus, light mineral fake sugar palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

640ml bottle. Pours a hazy medium gold, with a small white head, which lasts reasonably well. Strong white wine notes, hints of passionfruit and yeast make up the aroma. Bracingly tart up front, with strong yuzu notes. It softens into the mid-palate, with passionfruit coming in, and some spicy yeast notes to finish. Pretty enjoyable.

UPDATED: JAN 4, 2018 On keg at Beer Deluxe, Sydney. Pours yellow gold with a dissipating white head. Aromas of light acidity, passionfruit, citrus. Taste is light sweet, light sour, lemon, citrus, passionfruit with gentle tartness. Light bodied, quite thin mouthfeel, light carb. Spritzy, dry & fruity finish.

Fruity and sour. Not sour extreme, has a bit of sweetness in there. Quite weak and drinkable. Lemons, yuzu and a hint of passion fruit with a blast of sour starbursts. Ok but not my particular style

On tap at Beer Deluxe. Quick review: Appearance: Yellow gold. White head which quickly disappeared. 2 Aroma: Tart, fresh stingy citrus. 7 Taste: Slightly sweet initial taste, ends moderately sour and tart. Some citrus notes throughout. Didn't get the passionfruit. 7 Palate: Slightly thin. 3 Overall: Hard to review as this is only my third sour sour. 14
