Skinnyviking (9570) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - OCT 26, 2016
Sample at GABF 2016. Low fluffy light brown lasting head. Pitch black body. Roasted malt coffee choccolate liquorice caramel aroma and flavor. Fair amount of hops bitterness. Long finish. Unfortunately the alcohol is too dominant.

FROTHINGSLOSH (7796) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 17, 2015
Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a black color with a small creamy beige head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was strong black licorice and coffee. The flavor was bitter with black licorice, cocoa, almost cedar, coffee and a pronounced boozy presence. Long finish with growing booziness that distracted. Moderately full bodied. Disappointing.

Light bourbon (vanilla, caramel, woody) aroma. Sweet, spiced honey flavors with roast coconut flavors., thought light bodied. Black in color with tan head. Notes: GABF ’13

Draft. Pitch black, tan head. Aroma is thick with dark coffee and plum. Heavy coffee, chocolate, plum, raisin, but white wine cutting in at the last second. Really a great beer. Very earthy.

GABF 2014. Very smooth palate. Some soy sauce, heavily roasted malt, a little red meat and maybe a hint of yeast. Great beer.

badgerben (5178) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - OCT 18, 2014
GABF 2014. Black color with a large head. Roasty malt and coffee aroma. Flavor dominated by coffee and roast, but a strong black tea character is there. Definitely some astringency.

On tap at Daily Grower, Powell: Brown - black pour. Ring of light tan retention. Aroma of big roasted malt, chocolate, coffee. Tastes are cocoa bitter, milk chocolate, campfire roasty, little milky. Texture is on the thin side. Leaves a chalky bitter afters. 7.2

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, booze, chocolate, toasted malt. Flavor of roasted malt, chocolate, nougat, booze, bitter hops. Hot, but not terribly overpowering. Not too sweet at all- rather complex and fairly bitter/hoppy for an impy. Well done- I have not enjoyed imperial stouts much recently but this one intrigues me. 7/4/8/4/15 (3.8/5)
